Hi @elfin dawn. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with image uploads in ChatGPT. Here are a few things you might want to check:

  1. Check your app version: Make sure you're using the latest version of the ChatGPT app. If not, please update it.

  2. Check your plan: Image inputs are available for Plus and ChatGPT Enterprise plans. If you're on a different plan, you might not have access to this feature [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq)].

  3. Check the model: Image inputs are supported by the GPT-4 model. Ensure the model selector is set to GPT-4 [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq)].

  4. Check the image size and quantity: The size limit per image is 20MB. The number of images you can add to a conversation depends on various factors, including the size of the images and the amount of text accompanying them. If you encounter issues, consider reducing the image quantity or size [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq#h_63671f4925), source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq#h_ba9bb5ea5a)].

  5. Check the file type: Currently, ChatGPT supports processing static images only, it cannot handle videos [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq)].

If you're still having trouble, you might want to reach out to OpenAI's support for further assistance.

I see, as a free user, there are certain limitations to the usage of GPT-4o and its features. The ability to upload images is one of the advanced features that may have stricter rate limits for free users. When you hit these limits, certain features may become unavailable until your rate limit resets [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9275245-using-chatgpt-s-free-tier-faq)].

The rate limits for free users can vary based on current usage and demand. Once you've reached the limit, you'll be notified and invited to continue your conversation using GPT-3.5 or to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9275245-using-chatgpt-s-free-tier-faq)].

If you find the image upload feature valuable and want to use it more frequently, you might want to consider upgrading to a paid plan like ChatGPT Plus, which offers higher rate limits and access to more features [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9275245-using-chatgpt-s-free-tier-faq)].

Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, it seems that the ability to upload images during a conversation might be limited to certain platforms or versions of the ChatGPT app.

Here are a few steps you can follow to upload an image:

  1. Start a new conversation in the ChatGPT app.
  2. Tap the "+" icon in the prompt area to add image inputs [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq)].

If you're unable to see the "+" icon during a conversation, it might be due to the limitations of the platform or the version of the app you're using.

As a workaround, you can start a new conversation each time you want to upload an image. However, this might not be the most convenient solution.

If you're still having trouble, it would be best to reach out to OpenAI's support for further assistance. They might be able to provide more specific guidance based on the exact version of the app you're using and the device you're using it on.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble. If you're using the latest version of the app and you're still not seeing the "+" icon to add image inputs during a conversation, it might be a limitation of the free version of GPT-4o or a specific issue with the app.

As a free user, certain features might be limited or unavailable. The image upload feature is one of these advanced features that might not be fully available for free users [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq)].

If you believe this is a bug or an issue with the app, the best course of action would be to reach out to OpenAI's support for further assistance. They can provide more specific guidance based on the exact version of the app you're using and the device you're using it on.

If you're using the GPT-3.5 model, it's important to note that image inputs are not supported for this model. The image input feature is only available for the GPT-4 model [source (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8400551-image-inputs-for-chatgpt-faq)].

To use the image input feature, you'll need to switch to the GPT-4 model. You can do this by selecting GPT-4 from the model selector in the ChatGPT app.

If you're still having trouble after switching to GPT-4, or if you're unable to switch to GPT-4, it would be best to reach out to OpenAI's support for further assistance. They can provide more specific guidance based on the exact version of the app you're using and the device you're using it on.
