So when I was trying to make some images I ran into to an inexplicable content policy violation message.

My original prompt was for a selfie taken in a nightclub. Perfect. Generates an image no problem. But it still wasn’t exactly the look I was going for so I kept everything about the prompt the same except I changed the camera to a “disposable Polaroid camera” and boom prompt violation. So I looked it it over and couldn’t figure out what the problem was I asked ChatGPT and it suggested I change it to “vintage disposable camera” thinking maybe mentioned Polaroid was an issue. Nope, still a content violation.

Starting to get frustrated I stripped it down to its most basic form of “disposable camera selfie” and STILL got a violation. At this point I’m besides myself so I went to the community support channel and they were getting the same thing with my prompt. One person suggested I try, “Create a disposable camera selfie” and that worked! Great! But I still wanted that low light camera flash aesthetic so I tried, “Create a disposable camera selfie that is taken at night with the camera flash on.” And we’re right back to square one with the content policy violation.

ChatGPT even rewrote it for me to this and it still violates content policy: “A photograph taken with a disposable camera at night with the flash on, capturing a casual selfie of friends. They are smiling with candid expressions. The background is a dimly lit park or street with a few distant lights visible. The flash creates a stark contrast, illuminating their faces and casting soft shadows. The image has a vintage feel with washed-out colors, grain, and light flares typical of disposable cameras. The framing is imperfect, adding to the charm and spontaneity.”

Can anyone help?

And the attached image is a random one off Google that I grabbed to illustrate the look I am going for.

EDIT* So I’m trying everything. Even this prompt from ChatGPT violates content policy: “Create a realistic nighttime outdoor photo with a warm, nostalgic 90s aesthetic and a soft, slightly grainy texture. The scene features a group of friends posing for a photo in a secluded area, with the light source coming from the camera’s flash. The background is dark with minimal ambient lighting, allowing the flash to create strong, defined shadows and highlight the subjects. The friends are dressed in casual 90s fashion, with vibrant colors that have a slight vintage tint. They are smiling and striking playful poses, capturing the carefree and spontaneous vibe of the era. The bright flash from the camera creates a stark contrast with the dark surroundings, emphasizing the details of their faces and clothing. Ensure the details of the friends’ attire, their expressions, and the impact of the camera’s flash are vividly captured, adding depth and realism to the image.”

So I guess what I’m to assume is that night time/low light photography with an old camera is against TOS?? 😐

Hello. I asked ChatGPT to generate a prompt for a disposable camera photo taken with a flash in a poorly lit backyard and got a content policy trigger. I asked what the problem was and here's the explanation I got: "The issue likely arose due to the description of the scene involving a poorly lit backyard at night, which might have been interpreted as inappropriate or unsafe by the content policy filters. To avoid this, we can adjust the description to ensure it aligns with the content guidelines."

I got the policy rejection a couple times too but kept tinkering and got this to work:A disposable camera photograph of a backyard at night featuring a few smiling friends of diverse ethnicities gathered. The photo is taken with the camera flash on, resulting in a low-quality image with camera grain. Outdoor string lights hang from trees, creating a warm and cozy ambiance. The friends are casually dressed in 90s style clothes. The background features trees and some garden furniture, evoking a 90s vibe and aesthetic.

# empty stirrup Nice! thank you! So what’s your idea behind why this might work? I haven’t tried...

Truthfully, I'm not sure at all! I do wonder if it could relate to the word "flash" honestly -- there might just be extra sensitivity around that particular word. Also, I'm not sure if you've been starting new chats with every new attempt, but that can sometimes help. Since ChatGPT will use all the chart's context to write a prompt for DALL·E, if you get a flag early in the chat and keep going with a similar idea, you might keep getting flagged whereas starting a new chat and altering your approach could work better.

For what it's worth, after I got the example I offer working, I was able to change up the subjects quite a bit, so I don't think it's a "one in a million" prompt or anything!
