My gptplus account was deactivated this mourning, there's no formal email from openai team to inform me about this and there's no explanation about the specific reason for why banning my account on the login website. How can I activate my account?

Hi @ocean rain. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

I'm sorry to hear about your account deactivation. Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, it seems that OpenAI's support team is the best point of contact for resolving account-related issues.

Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Check your email inbox, including the spam/junk folder, for a message from OpenAI. If your account was deactivated by OpenAI, there should be an email explaining the reason.

  2. If you can't find any email or need further assistance, you can reach out to OpenAI's support team. If you already have an account, simply login and use the “Help” button to start a conversation. If you can't login, you can still reach them by selecting the chat bubble icon in the bottom right of help.openai.com (http://help.openai.com).

  3. If your account was deleted by you, unfortunately, it can't be reactivated. You can read more about this here (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/9019931-i-deleted-my-account-but-now-i-want-to-access-it-again-can-you-reactivate-my-account).

Please note that the OpenAI community and developer forums are not the correct venues for account recovery or billing issues. Only the OpenAI support team can assist with these matters.

@supple grove Is there any rules published by openai saying that if a user does some specific action and his account will be deactivated?

Let me check the knowledge base for you. One moment! :books:

Yes, OpenAI has published rules regarding the actions that could lead to account deactivation. According to OpenAI's Terms of Use (https://openai.com/policies/terms-of-use), your access to their services can be suspended or your account can be terminated if:

  • You breach these Terms or OpenAI's Usage Policies (https://openai.com/policies/usage-policies/).
  • OpenAI must do so to comply with the law.
  • Your use of OpenAI's services could cause risk or harm to OpenAI, its users, or anyone else.

Additionally, OpenAI may terminate your account if it has been inactive for over a year and you do not have a paid account. If they do so, they will provide you with advance notice.

Furthermore, OpenAI will terminate API access for use-cases that cause physical or mental harm to people, including but not limited to harassment, intentional deception, radicalization, astroturfing, or spam. This is mentioned in the Help Article (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/4963922-what-specifically-will-openai-do-about-misuse-of-the-api-given-what-you-ve-previously-said-about-gpt-2).

If you believe your account has been suspended or terminated in error, you can file an appeal by contacting OpenAI's Support team (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6614161-how-can-i-contact-support).
