MacOS App version of GPT-4o straight up hallucinating weird random conversations. | OpenAI | Page 1

I love the desktop app, the look the feel, etc. But my main use case of it is to have a conversational sidekick alongside me while I am at my computer. I am an audio engineer primarily and work in content production, so I have high fidelity audio. I show here that the speech to text in the normal chat is perfect, but as soon as I start to have a conversation, it will wildly hallucinate what I'm saying. Sometimes it gets bits and pieces of what I am trying to say.. but it's all very strange. Does anyone know a fix? It would also be helpful if in the future the desktop app had a settings menu to select audio input and output so I can be sure that my best microphone is selected.

I'm getting similar issues sometimes but only more. It also translates when I speak in a different language (French) directly to English even before it reaches the chat sometimes. And then also hallucinates completely in English and French at other times (no speech-to-text issue, similar to your case).

I don't thinkn it's the macOS app, but ChatGPT-4o in general. I'm having it keep repeating in long agonizing details answwers to questions I didn't ask because I menbtioned setting up a quick wem page an dit gave me a plan which for the next six prompts kept repeating with slight variations. Oh, that, iPhone, browser, and macOS desktop, in all modes speech, and text mixed. Stil get this effect. Gonna go play with my custome instructions to see if I can cut down on this. 🤪
