Description:
I've encountered a problem with context management when uploading screenshots in a chat. When I upload multiple images in succession, responses sometimes reflect the context of previous uploads rather than the latest screenshot. This creates confusion, as responses refer to older content rather than addressing the current image. Even starting a new chat session doesn't resolve this issue. The only way I've found to mitigate the problem is by explicitly naming the screenshots, which should not be necessary.
Steps to Reproduce:
Start a chat session with ChatGPT.
Upload a screenshot and ask a question related to it.
Continue the conversation by uploading a different screenshot with a new question.
Notice if the responses reflect the context of the latest screenshot or revert to an earlier one.
Start a new chat session and upload a new screenshot, then ask a related question.
Observe if the responses continue to reference prior contexts.
Expected Outcome:
Responses should be based on the latest screenshot uploaded, without referencing older ones, especially after starting a new chat session.
Actual Outcome:
Responses sometimes reflect the context of earlier uploaded images, even after starting a new chat session.
Impact:
This bug makes it challenging to use ChatGPT for sequential tasks involving image uploads, as responses may not align with the intended context. It may lead to misunderstandings or require additional clarification, impacting user experience and productivity.
Environment:
Platform: ChatGPT Plus Web
Browser/Client Version: Chrome
Date/Time of Occurrence: 04/22/24 4:15P PT
Additional Information:
This issue was only mitigated by naming the screenshots to help guide the responses, which should not be necessary for correct context interpretation. Any assistance in addressing this issue would be appreciated.
