Did open ai stopped giving free trials? Because every time I make a new account, then I went to the usage, I always see I didn't received credits even though my number is new. Is there currently a solution for this?

Hi @neon lichen. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

Yes, OpenAI has changed its policy regarding free trials. Free trial tokens for API users on platform.openai.com are only given the first time you sign up and complete phone verification during the first API key generation. No accounts created after that will receive free trial tokens [source] (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6614457-why-am-i-getting-an-error-message-stating-that-i-ve-reached-my-usage-limit).

If you're seeing a message that you've exceeded your usage limit, it could be because you're using a free trial account. To set up a pay-as-you-go account using the API, you'll need to enter billing information and upgrade to a paid plan [source] (https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6614457-why-am-i-getting-an-error-message-stating-that-i-ve-reached-my-usage-limit).

Also, there was a recent change where some accounts moved from Pay at End of the Month to pre-purchase credits [source] (https://community.openai.com/t/677605).

If you're still having issues, you can check your current credit balance and approved usage limit on your account's billing page [source] (https://community.openai.com/t/397883).
