Every time I attempt to add a file to a conversation to get this summarised etc I am presented with the below
Error reading documents

Same issue. Surprisingly, when asked GPT4 the same prompt in Polish (analyze invoice & return desired values from it in json) it worked. Doesn't work at all in english (same & way more prompts, tried pointing at encodings, languages used etc.). I've used GPT4 for 2 days so I thought this was my bad.

Actually - nevermind the "working" part. It suddenly doesn't work in polish as well when tested again using literally the same prompt and same attachment.

Not sure whether the issue is fixed or not, but just to let you know - attaching files to openAI API (whether it's through playground or my python connection) worked fine all the time.

I have been able to get it to work by simply telling it 1 or 2 times that it has processed the file then it decides to process it

This is an ongoing issue for me also, would be intrested if it starts working normally for you again @final sage ... brute forcing it seems to be a pain.

This is also an ongoing issue for me, and has been for the last two weeks in both custom GPTs and fresh ChatGPT 4 conversations. Looking at bug-reports, it's quite widespread

To add to this, bruteforcing does kind of work, but suggests a systemic issue for some users

Brute forcing it works. It takes a couple of times and you might need to feed it multiple times the documents, but it ends up working.

I am having the same issue. Cannot upload any files to a GPT or in chat mode. On Chrome web browser GPT4:
