created few GPTs which uses document compare, using PDFs, they worked for the first couple of times, quite well, and now they keep on saying they do not have the ability to read within PDF document. But the config still says it can. Any ideas why this is happening

Based on the information extracted from the OpenAI community forum, it appears that several users have been experiencing similar issues with their custom GPT models not being able to read PDFs. This issue seems to be recent and not limited to PDFs but also extends to other file types like txt and CSV files source (https://community.openai.com/t/632599).

One user reported that they reached out to OpenAI's support service, who acknowledged that this might be a new or emerging problem source (https://community.openai.com/t/632599). However, there's no specific solution or workaround provided in the extracts.

In the meantime, one suggestion from the forum is to try copying the contents from your PDF and upload it as a .txt file instead source (https://community.openai.com/t/501549). This might make it easier for the GPT to understand.

Please note that these are temporary solutions and the issue might need to be addressed by OpenAI's technical team. It would be beneficial to reach out to OpenAI's support service for further assistance.
