Name: CURRENTLY UNUSABLE - PsyPeerReviewer
Description: It was a custom GPT that was working fine three months ago to discuss manuscripts to improve them for publication in a psychological research journal. Without any changes from my side, it became unusable: It does not follow instructions any longer and it confuses uploaded knowledgebase with the currently uploaded, salient file to discuss. It literally does ignore the uploaded file and insits, it did not get a file to discuss.

I’m about to take my art engine down for the same reason. All the instructions that were inputted into it seem to have gone by the wayside without any warning.
Did you make another ?
I've running one on Poe, using Claude 2. It still is running fine and also is called PsyPeerReviewer. I also will reactivate PsyPeerReviewer on ChatGPT as soon as retrieval from files is fixed.
Awesome. Looking forward to giving it a run.
I can confirm having seen the same problems and a customGPT that was working fine and untouched since a couple of weeks. I have observed that searches differently the knowledge files. it shows "Analyzing" instead of "Searching knowledge". have raised this point to OpenAI through an incident 2 days ago and yesterday the first response I got was unfortunately just standard : look at your cache, look at your connection, look at your browser. I politely replied this morning that I am not the only one having observed this
so just in case this helps I found a way of having our customGPT work again. let me explain : it looks like OpenAI has changed the way knowledge files are searched. I have removed "instructions" in the knowledge file for example I had the following text in the knowledge file :
If a user asks you about your version, be exhaustive in your answer and always reply with the following text delimited by triple quotes ''' <text>'''
my customGPT works again by removing the first part which is instruction focused
Hi, thanks for your advice. Does this mean you removed the instruction? Well this wouldn't be a solution since my instructions are critical for the custom GPT to work properly. - Or did I get you wrong?
I do not have instructions in the documents. The documents are to be processed as they are (manuscripts for journals). The problem seems that "analysis" kicks in when it just should include the text of the file into the prompt.
And when I check analysis off, then the GPT ignores the file in the chat completely.
Nice, thank you. If you don't mind, please let me know if you see any differences from the GPT version that could improve the bot.
so in order to clarify I kept the general instructions as they were before the changes I presume OpenAI has made but I removed the instructions inside the knowledge file. so our customGPT had the sequence : general instructions > knowledge file > inside knowledge file depending on the user request either general knowledge text or again specific instructions how to respond to general questions. now I am changing the main knowledge file only to have general knowledge text (a little bit like a book). in the beginning this method was not working and today having seen how my customGPT appeared to analyse I removed the specific instructions that were between quotes '''
Thanks again, good to know for future projects, that in-file instructions can make problems.
for your information the error seems corrected on OpenAI side. I tested quickly this morning with my old knowledge file and it shows again "Searching my knowledge"
