#CustomGPT no longer reading knowledge file

I have 2 customGPTs (1 for release & 1 for testing). Both GPTs no longer reading their knowledge file and instead draw their answers from general ChatGPT eventhough both are clearly instructed to retrieve their answers from their specific knowledge file.

#

here the message I wrote to support :

  • Description of the issue : custom GPTs no longer reading main knowledge file in .DOCX format
  • I have 2 GPTs in parallel one for pretesting purposes and one ready for release. I have been changing the main one and have not changed any general instructions on the second one. Both GPTs have a main knowledge file in .DOCX format and after 3 months of extensive testing both were working fine and drawing their answers as instructed from the main knowledge file when needed. Now since 2 days, both (despite the fact of only having changed one) are no longer retrieving their answers from their knowledge file.
  • there is no error message but I can clearly see that they do not read their knowledge file.
  • if we release our custom GPT in production in the GPT Store this cannot happen and we need to be able to have a reliable GPT where non-regression exists not only in theory.

I have created a new GPT from scratch and it shows the exact same behaviour. Previously I could see that it would say "Searching in knowledge", now it only does "Analysing".

I have the same issue.

Same to me. Tried with my own GPT as well as with a similar GPT from another user.

#

Does not read PDF or .docx but ignores uploaded files (chat and knowledge base) and when switching on analysis, they always try to analyse the docs.

#

Interestingly, ChatGPT itself was able to handle my file.

I have the same problem:

GPT Agent: I apologize, but it seems the issue hasn't been resolved, and I'm still unable to perform the search as intended. I'm here to help with any other requests or provide information within my capabilities. If there's anything else you'd like to know or discuss, please feel free to ask.

User:
Why are you unable to perform the search as intended? What is the root cause?

GPT Agent: The root cause of the issue appears to be a miscommunication between the system commands I'm using to attempt the search and the actual functionality available for accessing and searching through uploaded documents. This miscommunication results in an "InvalidRecipient" error, indicating that the system does not recognize the command as I've issued it, preventing me from accessing the uploaded knowledge to perform your request.

This situation is not about a lack of willingness to help but rather a technical limitation or error in the system's ability to execute the specific commands under the current setup. I'm here to assist within the scope of my capabilities and the functions that are correctly working. If there's another way I can help or if you have other questions, please let me know.

This is a major problem for GPT Agents. Why am I paying for GPT Agents that can no longer search uploaded knowledge. I'm very frustrated with ChatGPT and canceled my subscription for now. I'm wondering how a bug as big as this was released?

#

I gave it the most simple task: search your knowledge for any mention of the word "squid" and tell me the sentence. It gave me the run-around endlessly:

GPT Agent: I couldn't find any information in my knowledge source related to experiences with squid. If you have any other topics or questions in mind, feel free to ask!

I did a ctrl f of the document myself and found the word squid immediately. Very frustrated because I know it did not search its knowledge, just returned lies and excuses. The purple wheel did not spin, it completely skipped searching its uploaded knowledge. I told it to stop being lazy but it seems to be unable to perform searches due to a bug and instead of admitting this, lies to us.

I have the same problem. I am working on a Custom GPT. I uploaded documents to the knowledge base. However, when I start a new conversation and the model begins to Search, it suddenly starts sending a reply saying it has no information about the topic. Meanwhile, the "Searching the knowledge" message still appears actively above. Any advice? I've tried custom instructions. Code Interpreter is the only capability I have turned on.

I was trying to have a custom GPT read its knowledge base and output relevant feats for a starfinder campaign and it seems like it finishes reading from its knowledge base after it is already sending its response.

#

Prompt:

What are 10 good feats for a level 3 mechanic who runs a junk shop. Don't say more than a sentence about each one. Consult your knowledge base before answering, only provide feats present in the knowledge base.
#

Response:

Here are 10 feats from my knowledge base that would suit a level 3 mechanic who runs a junk shop well:

Junk Armor - Create makeshift armor from scrap, improving your AC temporarily.
Engineering Adept - Gain a bonus on Engineering checks, useful for crafting and repairs.
Hack Directory - Quickly bypass security on electronic devices and systems.
Improvised Weapon Mastery - Use everyday objects as effective weapons.
Scrap Savant - Find useful components in what others consider trash, improving crafting.
Gadgeteer - Craft temporary gadgets to solve a variety of problems.
Quick Repair - Perform repairs in half the normal time.
Salvage Specialist - Gain more materials when salvaging technology and machinery.
Tinker's Luck - Reroll failed Engineering checks once per day.
Waste Not - Recycle parts of used or broken devices efficiently, saving resources.

These feats, drawn from my knowledge base, are designed to enhance the capabilities of a mechanic character, particularly one with a focus on crafting, repairing, and making the most of available resources.

None of the 10 feats it listed actually exist
