I had a chat that started in GPT4, but got switched to GPT3.5 when I ran out of uses until the next cycle. When I try to switch to GPT4 in the dropdown, it opens a new chat instead of changing the current one. How can I switch my existing chat back to GPT4?

Based on the information provided in the extracts, it seems that you cannot directly switch an existing chat from GPT-3.5 to GPT-4 within the same chat session. When you select GPT-4 from the dropdown, it initiates a new chat session.

However, you can start a new chat with GPT-4 if you are a ChatGPT Plus subscriber. You can select GPT-4 under the Model section on the ChatGPT website to try it out [^1^]. Please note that as of January 5th, 2024, GPT-4 has a limit of 40 messages every 3 hours for ChatGPT Plus subscribers [^7^].

If you are a Pay-As-You-Go customer and have made a successful payment of $1 or more, you'll be able to access the GPT-4 API [^7^]. However, please note that ChatGPT and the OpenAI API are separate. You can have GPT-4 in your chat app, but not be able to use it programmatically, and vice versa [^2^].

If you are experiencing issues with GPT-4, such as it not receiving or generating any responses, it might be due to some temporary issues or system performance [^4^]. In such cases, you might want to reach out to OpenAI support for further assistance.
