Hi
Saw the message on the main group and hence sharing how this is useful for me.
Custom GPT: Asked it to take on the role of a psychologist, specializing in Adult ADHD. Then for a philosophical base added in Ayn Rand.
Then lots of trial which had me change some pointers. Included some points of Maslow overwriting some part of Ayn Rand. Looked into how my psychiatrist and psychologist speak to me.
What I'm trying to get from this Custom GPT is accountability. Something that can help me with long term goal setting to short term tasks to daily accountability.
Still WIP.

Was going to share link here, however GPT mentioned I need to take care of a few points before I publish it.

Is this a product/app you’re working on? I am working on an app using GPT/LLMs that helps w short term management of adhd symptoms for knowledge workers. Would love to chat!

I just read all these comments! Very well. Let me take up the points the GPT asked me to do before I can publish it for everyone.

There you go.
Not able to make changes for some time. I keep getting this: I apologize, but it seems we are still encountering a technical issue with updating the GPT's behavior. Unfortunately, I'm unable to incorporate the specific changes you requested at this time. If there's anything else I can assist you with or any other way I can help, please let me know!

As someone who has Adult ADHD (and I take meds and also therapy) , this has been helpful to me. It's a WIP. Changing it as and when. Hope this helps others too!

You may not be aware of this, but ADHD is a misnomer. It is actually an executive function problem. By approaching it this way I have seen that ChatGPT can be much more effective in perspective and assistance.

I plan on taking a quick look at this. I don't have Adult ADHD, but I am an ENTP, and we'r eoften mistake for ADHD. Psychology is a big field for me, so if you ever need a sounding board or someone with abstract ideas, let me know.

I played around a bit and got some notes for you. Let me know if you would like them.

Here are some areas for you to focus on, mind you, these might be things to implement down the line but some are things you might want to do now:

Expanding Frameworks: While the focus on Ayn Rand's philosophy offers a unique perspective, incorporating additional philosophical or psychological frameworks could provide a more well-rounded approach. This can help cater to a wider range of users who might not fully align with Rand's philosophies but still seek effective strategies for dealing with ADHD.

Enhanced Personalization: Increasing the system's ability to personalize advice based on the user's specific circumstances, challenges, and preferences could make the guidance more relevant and effective. This might involve more sophisticated tracking of users' progress over time and adapting recommendations accordingly.

Interactivity and Engagement Tools: Integrating more interactive tools, such as interactive checklists, reminder systems, or gamified elements, could enhance user engagement and accountability. These tools can motivate users to stay on track with their goals.

Resource Library: Developing a comprehensive resource library within the GPT that includes articles, videos, and other materials about ADHD management, Ayn Rand’s philosophy, and goal setting could provide users with additional support and information.

Ethical and Privacy Considerations: Ensuring the highest standards of ethical considerations and user privacy, especially given the sensitive nature of health-related data, is crucial. Regular reviews and updates to privacy policies and security measures would be beneficial.

Goal Setting and Task Management: The GPT is well-equipped to assist with setting realistic, value-aligned goals and breaking these down into manageable tasks. It can provide structured guidance and help users articulate and refine their goals.

#

Consistency and Continuity: With its ability to recall previous conversations, the GPT can maintain continuity over multiple sessions, which is crucial for tracking long-term goals and ensuring consistent accountability.

Integration with Task Management Tools: Linking the GPT with external task management and reminder systems could address the need for real-time interaction and reminders.

Machine Learning Enhancements: Investing in machine learning algorithms that can better understand and adapt to individual user patterns and preferences would enhance personalization.

User Feedback Mechanisms: Implementing a system where users can provide feedback on the advice and support they receive, allowing the GPT to learn and adapt, would improve its effectiveness over time.

Collaboration with Human Coaches: Facilitating a hybrid model where the GPT works in tandem with human ADHD coaches could combine the strengths of both, offering the personal touch and nuanced understanding that AI currently lacks.

Community Features: Developing a user community platform for peer support and shared accountability could complement the GPT's offerings.

#

So, I know you said you are starting out in all of this, but I hope you continue with this.

Thank you @inner ember
Appreciate the time and thought that went into this.

  1. Ayn Rand's philosophy - I agree that her philosophy as she put it in her time is not universally applicable. Some points needs to change.
My main reason to look into that was Objectivism. If I FEEL like following an impulse, not supposed to do it but rather take a call based on a value system. This is especially important in cases of ADHD + Comorbidities like Depression. Don't just follow every blind feeling you have but judge it according to an objectively based value system based on what's needed for this world.
Am looking more into psychology to find out what works in this framework.

  2. Enhanced personalization: oh definitely. Have been trying it. It's WIP now.

  3. Interactivity, Engagement tools:

  4. Resource library:
    good suggestions.

  5. Ethical, Privacy considerations: never thought of this and I'm blank of this right now. Let me check it out. As GPT is OpenAI not under my domain, can I do anything about this?

  6. Goal, Tasks:

  7. Consistency:
    thank you.

  8. External task management systems:
    Good one! Will include

  9. Machine learning : reading this gave my ADHD a high! The irony of me getting into this is that I wanted to focus on a few things and not mess with 20 different things! I get what you are saying though!

User feedback:
Community:
again, good one.

Thank you again. This was helpful! Will start implementing.

Has anyone used this for holistic, monthly, weekly and daily planning so far? Kind of like an actual “daily driver?” I realize it has t been around long enough for real long term use, but it would be interesting to understand if such functionality is plausible and/or when and how to break off sessions to “save state” and start a new one so hallucinations are minimized.

# frank ember I just found this thread a few minutes ago and this is what I was looking for as...

It would certainly be useful to have an "executive function handler" to help those who struggle in this area. We have multiple family members that have similar issues where talent and capacity is immense, but finding the capacity to prioritize and choose / be directed wisely (eg, executive function that is dysfunctional in varying ways with those with ADHD) would work wonders for productivity.

frank ember
celest dew
# frank ember Yes most definitely and that's where I think I've been having an issue recently....

It tends to get worse with stressors / unexpected things. It's not that you're not talented and very capable, on the contrary, people with Executive Dysfunction Disorder (aka - and wrongly named in my opinion - ADHD) tend to be highly talented and gifted people, but because of this it is hard to choose properly. Even procrastination becomes a huge aspect of it over time and given various circumstances. It's all very misunderstood it seems and very hard to manage since you end up in a loop if not worse.

Hello
@frank ember @celest dew

  1. I was in parallel working on another GPT. The name was EXTERNAL PFC GPT (PFC: pre frontal cortex). The point was irrespective of whether it's ADHD and/ or -Executive Dysfunction Disorder- it was all coming down to this part of the brain in charge of long and short term goal setting and task management.

2.That gave me surprisingly good answers. Surprising because when you make something you have an idea on how it'll work..this spoke to me like a stern psychologist.

  1. Unfortunately, I have tinkered a lil too much both the GPTs. The ADHD Coach (and the new External PFC GPT) with the new tinkering again went against some GPT policies and it allows me to publish only for myself, not the everyone option. Will check whether I can save it as a private link and share.

BTW-
Very happy that this can be of help to more people!
Can you please walk me through exactly how you used it?
What Questions, what answers?
Pros and Cons.

Will work on what you suggested.

Also, everyone who did msg earlier on- hoping for some inputs from your usage too.

I have used it for long term goals as well as short term. As long as you continue with the same thread- it refers back to your previous chats.
Ref: When I asked about a new thing to do, the GPT reminded me of my previous tasks in the To Do list.

When I had to make a new thread (because I updated my GPT), i even started with giving it a summary of my previous conversations. Now when I asked something something new to engage my time it, the GPT did not weigh it against the older goals despite the summary given.

Thank you for your reply the other one sounds really good. I clicked one of the conversation starters in ADHD Coach but of course my ADHD was in hyperdrive yesterday and I didn't get back to it. I'll tinker around more and will gladly give feedback! I appreciate you being open to feedback, and hopefully you'll be able to get the other one launched soon. I'm sure you've done this already and I'm very new to the "tech world" but do you have a medical disclaimer inclcuded in your GPT? I ask because I'm just wondering if that could be a possibility for the GPT policy issue? Again I'm new to all of this lol!

Am new in the tech world too!
No! I do not have a medical disclaimer. Maybe that's why it is not being published for everyone. Will take care of that.
I built in some features for myself. Had no thought of putting it out there because I assumed everyone will have way better resources.
I read this post about just participating in the community and hence posted about it here. Surprised at the attention and help!

I just did something similar today with records from testing I had done as a child. I struggle with adhd and autism but am high functioning and low support. I started feeding the data today to analyze and see if it can detect the autism that the testing and clinical observations reports could not in the late 70’s and 80’s.
