Japan faces an aging society, and beyond culture and tradition, I support my mother's wish to live independently through a realistic lens, enhancing her quality of life (QOL). This is love, and it is my responsibility.

In the impoverished rural Japan of the 1950s, my 76-year-old mother had no family album. As a proud minimalist, she cherishes memories of her father and a gentle cow from her childhood, which I brought back to life with DALL-E.

The 'Memory Salvage Project' faced difficulties, perhaps due to GPT-4's less familiarity with East Asia compared to North America or Europe. For instance, a silhouette prompt unexpectedly produced a hat resembling Vietnam's traditional 'Nón lá,' as shown in the blue illustration.

However, by reading the excellent prompts posted daily on DALL-E's themes by the community, I created a piece. While it differs from my mother's recollections, it captures the essence of the 1950s countryside, and she acknowledged its completion.

  2. This project was submitted to local authorities in a 'Letter to the Mayor,' which may be read by hard-working experts in elderly welfare.
  3. I am here to contribute to OpenAI, so my personal project being used as a reference by members of the OpenAI Discord Server is an honor. Please feel free to turn your family memories into art with DALL-E3, which can draw at a resolution of 1024x1792 (API).

In August 2023, I taught my 76-year-old mother, who has a Bachelor's degree in Japanese Literature and a background in childhood education, how to use ChatGPT and Bing along with DALL-E2. She might be one of the oldest OpenAI users.

I apologize for not being able to respond earlier due to not understanding the notifications despite your comments.

Thanks to the server staff, what I couldn't achieve on my own became possible with the current GPT-4 and DALL-E 3, even though they struggle with certain tasks.

By reading user prompts on the servers you all maintain, I was able to create an image close to my mother's. I believe this significantly expands the possibilities of DALL-E. Image-generating AI, which draws pictures with words, holds a dreamlike potential. Japan, being an aging society, has many stories from the elderly that risk being lost. However, DALL-E allows us to turn these stories into art.

In this sense, DALL-E possesses great potential and kindness, truly adhering to OpenAI's vision of contributing to humanity.

That's quite amazing. That is something I would like to look into for people who have Post-Concussion syndrome, and get brief moments of memory but quickly fade, that it can produce small imagines at firs to try to keep in your mind longer, and because they're small they're father and slowly build up to something resembling what you're thtinking.
