Hi @limber steeple. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
Hmm, I don't know enough to give you a confident answer yet. The information extracts provided do not mention a specific OpenAI API for converting PowerPoint (PPT) content to text. OpenAI does offer various models that can process and generate text, but they don't specifically handle PPT files.
For more information about OpenAI's capabilities, you may want to explore the OpenAI API documentation (https://platform.openai.com/docs/introduction) or ask in the OpenAI Developer Forum (https://community.openai.com/).
Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:

@potent hornet How to convert ppts to text using openAi api?
Let me check the knowledge base for you. One moment! :books:
I'm sorry, but based on the information extracts provided, OpenAI does not currently offer an API that can directly convert PowerPoint (PPT) files to text. The APIs mentioned in the extracts, such as the GPT series, Assistants API, and TTS API, are designed for tasks like language translation, content generation, conversational AI, and text-to-speech conversion, but they do not specifically handle PPT files.
You might need to use other tools or services to extract text from your PPT files first, and then you can use OpenAI's APIs to process that text as needed. If you have any further questions or need more specific guidance, I recommend reaching out to OpenAI directly or asking in the OpenAI Developer Forum (https://community.openai.com/).

@limber steeple The outline function in PowerPoint should extract most text in your presentation, but note that it cannot take everything from your presentation especially images with text. For images with text, use OCR tools like Google Vision.
