Yes very big problem. My custom GPT is 100% useless because of this. Very simple to recreate this issue. It even happens with ChatGPT-4. Give it a URL and tell it to make it a hyperlink, and call it "TestURL" or whatever. It will give back that hyperlink, but it doesn't do anything. It is a dead link. If you ask ChatGPT-3.5 the exact same thing, with the exact same URL, it works fine. This carries over to the custom GPT creation, does not work at all. This seems like a pretty gaping hole in the technology. Yes, make the GPT tell the user to copy and paste the link into the browser.... then we have officially transported back to the year 1983, when the internet was invented. Should I print out some MapQuest directions on paper too while I'm at it? That seems pretty advanced right now.
