Hi again, you mentioned in the other channel that you have a VPN but that it's currently disabled, and that it's not a 3rd party VPN. I can't find anything online about a built-in VPN in macOS, can you clarify that for me please?

Gotcha, these look like instructions for setting up a 3rd party VPN connection using macOS' VPN connection settings. So do you mean you don't use this feature/you don't subscribe to any VPN?
Yeah its the client in macos that comes native. I don't have it active, so I'm not using VPN to go through another IP / network.
sometimes using it to connect to the office, but mostly it's off so it's not the problem here..
I am receiving multiple captchas 2.25.2024 when I use my account. NO VPN. NO BLOCKERS. No Problems until just now.
I can't get anything to work for Chatgpt either. Every single time I go to use it I get captcha and they can't even be solved. I've checked my ip with db-ip.com and see nothing wrong with it, I've checked the IPv4 and IPv6 and both are fine. I have no idea why I'm getting these captchas on my computer now.
Whoever is in charge of this Discord - I don't know if you're a real person or not - I can't tell. But, based on what I've just experienced this is really weird. Now, it's working. I'm very grateful it is because as with everything online, now we are hooked and dependent on this tool. Really not the way it should be, but the way it is nonetheless. If you're a bot, you have no idea what I'm feeling or what I want to achieve, but at least you made this workable for me and my account has been fixed. I'm not saying thank you to a bot, that's just weird. If there are real people at this company, I hope one of you can reach out in real people language to confirm you received this.
I have started to receive this error today as well. I have made zero changes to anything. Don't use a VPN. Frequently use GPT (about 20 prompts or so a day). Today I try and use it and every single prompt asks me to verify.

While encountering CAPTCHAs occasionally is normal, you shouldn't constantly encounter them. If you do, here are some initial troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

VPN and Browser Configuration: Make sure you're not connecting through a VPN and check for any non-standard browser configurations, such as browser extensions that might interfere with the page.

Incognito Mode: If you've confirmed you're not on a VPN, try using an incognito window to see if that helps. Unusual behaviors can cause CAPTCHAs to show up more frequently, so using an incognito window can be a good first step to address this.
It might not solve your problem, but that's a few steps you can try if you haven't already. I encourage you to contact the support if the issue doesn't get solved for you. unfortunately I do not have more visibility on the status of issues on the side of OpenAI, but I have no doubt they are working on a solution. I know they take a look at those bug reports on this server.
to contact the support, you can click on that link and you should see a bubble at the bottom right. you can click on it to open a discussion and explain your issue.
I am having the same problem with no VPN and no extensions active. Has anyone found a resolution as there seems to be no way to contact support even though we are paying for the service.
You have a couple ways to contact support, one actually is your post here, as OAI employees (they have gold names) do check these (we don't know how often).
Another way to contact support is through the bot bottom right of the help page, here's a link: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8184038-captchas-in-chatgpt
You click through the bot choices and will be offered a way to leave a message for a human.
They do get back to you, but it can take a week or so, they are still a small company with around 100 million monthly users.

it looks like lots of people have posted all over the internet with this issue... but no real resolution.
The fix to your problem is likely independent to the reply you get there, part why I suggested you add to the bug report here.
The bot-to-human help is essential if you have some 'your account only' problem, like a payment issue or some unique thing with your account you need OAI's direct-to-you assistance on.
But this... is likely to be a different thing, maybe something OAI can't help (are you affected guys all on the same internet provider, and the issue is there? I have no idea), or maybe something they can directly control.
If so, all they need to know is that there is a problem, then they can work on a fix.
Keep in mind, it's Sunday afternoon where OAI is headquartered, and while I'm not sure how many users are currently affected, I've seen about 6 people talk about it today on this discord (and we have around 96k members, and I've seen several hundred people post today in various parts of the Discord), and I'm not affected myself.
So whatever emergency team they have for huge problems, not sure this is a huge problem that would get them into the office on Sunday - and if it is, we need you guys reporting the problem where OAI can see and measure it, so they know they have something to fix!
Today I just started having to solve 20 captchas per message that I try to submit. I'm not using a VPN either. Paying for a plan that is basically unusable. Ridiculous
Yes that is what is happening to me as well. Even tried a different computer that has no VPN, no extensions or anything that should cause it. Never had the issue till today and I haven't asked any weird prompts or anything.

I am stuck in a loop with that puzzle... I have had to do the 20 questions ... 12 times now.
I feel like I won a war after completing two rounds of 20. I gave up and became too frustrated after that
it is infuriating. I was unable to complete any of the work that I needed today AND spend over an hour troubleshooting and doing the extremely long and complicated tests over and over.
I contacted ChatGPT support on their website / help messenger -- and they responded quickly! They asked for my IP and I sent it, and hopefully this will resolve.
I am guessing they pushed out a new secuity patch that is failing miserably...

and fyi... tried on more than one computer, no VPN, no ad blockers and I even tested turning off all extensions and any virus protection for a minute.
you probably don't need to ping the same person multiple times 😅
you can uncheck that "@ON" switch to disable the notification

okay, but I have done that before and the person did not get the message in between others. That is only reason it was back on. I was told it was a bug
20 stage captcha in loop after I solve it as soon as i type something it sends me back into another one. I am at my home office on the same computers I use everyday from the same internet connection use everyday.

oddly enough, a few times it was wrong as well. I even had two other people watch over my shoulder as we chose them, and at the end it told us we have 5 wrong lol.
and I have done the 20 challenge loop like 16 times now lol.
perhaps you can try in incognito mode, so you are sure the cookies are cleared.
yep tried that as well and even on a new laptop with a brand new Win 11 install

That time I did the 20 challenge questions, it didn't even let me ask another one before another 20 challenge. I think im gonna give them time and try again tomorrow. Good luck guys!!!

My intention is to help myself get to the point where I can get the work I need to get completed. Are you able to help anyone or is the comment "Sadly, OAI seems to think I'm human, no question. So I can't help with data collection this time, this way." merely a way to say to me and everyone else "too bad so sad, sorry... but, you're basically ______ " (fill in the blank). I am unsure as to what this issue is, but it seems to me, this is affecting a lot of people.
Nope, I'm a community member like yourself. It's the gold-named folks who work for OpenAI. Scroll up and you see one replied to this bug report today even - they hardly ever speak, and asked for reports like yours.

20 is too much. I do have a work around, but will not work while I am teaching. But my work around is do one Captcha, and then modify the prompt or make requests via my phone.
So OpenAI wants to take my money but force me to take a 20 question test every single prompt?
How do you even solve these? I just tried and somewhere I got it wrong? theres 20 questions and barely any of the images match.
It's pretty straightforward math. Just make sure if it's x 0 you choose the one with none of that symbol. Also the symbol can be in dark or light theme to be correct also as long as the math is right.
Ive got one where it shows a symbol x 1, does that mean like it needs at least one or it needs just one for the symbol to match?
So you need to find the picture that has only 1 of that symbol can be light or dark.

Finished the quiz, got hit with a new test the moment a I tried for a new prompt. This is frustrating to say the least. And I've already gone through all the steps that their Help Support bot suggested - no success.
Clearly and definitely a bug, a gold name OAI employee has already confirmed. You guys are helping get it fixed by providing the screenshot with the numbers that engineer asked for.
So sorry you're affected, but they clearly don't want you having to do this (gold names rarely speak, they just fix stuff most of the time - but McGrew confirmed the bug).

I am facing the same infinite login loop when I attempt to sign into chatgpt on google chrome today aroudn 7 pm PST and on. I solve the 20 step captcha, then I type into the chatgpt, and then 1 second later the captcha pops up.
I tried 6 times already on 2 different browsers. Incognito, etc. This makes CHATGPT unusable.
