Persistent error with image recognition feature

Hello,

I have been getting the above error for several hours. I have tried other devices, different networks, Chrome, Edge, Firefox. I have cleared my history, cookies, cache with the same response. Currently have the premium membership. Everything was working fine until the error suddenly appeared.

After fidgeting around I created a new chat and sent in a random prompt that worked fine. I tried adding an image and the entire chat "broke". I kept getting the same error "Hmm...something seems to have gone wrong." After several attempts and trying the same fixes above I keep on getting the error.

Problem seems to be with uploading files

I cannot upload a single file in GPT4 without getting an error. This has become extremely frustrating

I have also the same error popping. I have tried different browsers and the ios app is not working with images as well

Any hints in Network perhaps? Could you open Network, refresh page, and try the image recognition feature to see if anything comes up as an obvious source of the block?

Since this has become a thread for lots of users with this issue, I wonder if you might consider editing the title of your original post to something like "Persistent error with image recognition feature" -- in case someone at OpenAI has the chance to pop in bug-reports, it might give them a better idea about what's going on!

It’s not because of the browser, I used a different account with Plus on it and it worked fine.

I used Microsoft edge, opera, chrome, and even Firefox and the same result. So I know it isn’t because of the browser

Yeah I think all we've figured out so far is that its an account related issue. Only thing we can hope for is someone from OpenAI seeing this or responding to the support tickets we made through their site

After error, click the reload icon on the right of thumb up/down instead of the Regenerate button. Works for me.

Someone else in a similar thread also shared that clearing old chats fixed the issue for them. #1184061063323459584 message
I wonder if maybe it's only any old chats that used, or tried to use, the image recognition feature? Maybe could get away with not deleting everything? Though I know not everyone has reported that this worked for them anyway.

Clear the chat isn’t an option I think, there are too many important chats to test this move. Even if there is a way to save all chats, there is no option to import them after.
Like other people here, I have the same issue with different browsers, and the IOS app too. It’s a problem from OpenAI. But is there mods to take care of our conversation and push to fix our problem or are we speak between users ?

The thing here seems that when a chat becomes longer than a certain limit, image recognition starts failing; it worked when I started a new chat, but that's not what I want, because I have to migrate the context of the previous chat to the new one
