It does, you may need to try a few times. Once you have a working seed it should work indefinitely. With that said, I agree that it is suboptimal.
What I believe is happening is that Dall-E blocks the image because it contains some filtered element.

Okay, but seems unlikely that they have the same or even similar instructions as I do for the caricature GPT. It is inherently problematic as it has to exaggerate features of actual people; something ChatGPT rarely agrees to do unless you ask it the right way. It took a long time making an instruction it would even accept without just responding "Sorry, I cannot do that for you".
My theory is that Dall-E has its own filter that prevents something it considers offensive or unethical. No idea what that would be as it would require further testing to find out. What I know is that certain seeds always seem to generate images that are blocked, which is why I can only recommend starting a new chat, until I completely restructure the functionality of the GPT.

Pretty neat. Dall-E will probably filter out the more offensive caricatures and there's nothing you can do about that (but maybe that's a good thing). It seems to fail more often with dark-skinned people
