#call button and send button on chat gpt app on iPhone doesn’t work

Hello! Do you happen to have a VPN installed on this iPhone, or are you using any adblocker app?
Yess I have vpn installed but it’s not connected to the vpn right noww
What VPN is it? And any adblocker app?
1.1.1.1 by cloud fare
No ad blocker app..
Interesting! I didn't know Cloudflare had an app like this. So 1.1.1.1 is a DNS address, Cloudflare's, to be exact. So I'm guessing that this app is simply setting your DNS to 1.1.1.1? But I'm not certain.
Since you said this is disabled, are you comfortable temporarily uninstalling it? Again, I'm not sure how it works, but if it's affecting your DNS settings, it's possible that even disabling it is still letting some DNS setting linger somehow on your network.
If you're willing, you might try:
- Uninstall 1.1.1.1
- Uninstall ChatGPT
- Go to Settings app, then WiFi, then tap the little "i" next to your WiFi network, and then find the DNS setting and make sure it's set to "Automatic"
- Turn your phone off and back on
- Reinstall ChatGPT, try again
If this doesn't work, can you try it on your cellular network instead of on WiFi, to see if there's a difference?
I'm suggesting all this because DNS filtering is a common culprit in the Android app for "stuck" feature like you describe, so I'm wondering if there's something similar happening on iOS, too.
Ahh okey I’ll try that, thank you!
This is the app if you’re wondering
Copy that, let me know if anything changes! Like I mentioned, VPNs and DNS filtering are the most common culprits, so I'd be curious to know if it helps. You mentioned that it works on your iPad, does the iPad also use this app?
Yess I also use the 1.1.1.1 app on my iPad but weirdly everything works fine on the iPad..
It still didn’t work Solbus, I deleted my VPN app, uninstalled and reinstalled ChatGPT, checked for the DNS option on my Wifi settings (it’s on), restarted my phone, but send button & call button still not functioning
Dang dang, I'm really sorry it's still not working, thanks for trying so much. You're definitely not the only person experiencing this, there's someone in #community-help with the same problem right now.
Is the behavior the same when you force close the app, disable WiFi and connect to your cellular network, then re-open the app?
Otherwise, I'm curious what you mean by "it's on" for the DNS setting--do you mean it's set to automatic?
Yes it’s the same behavior when I force close the app and change to cellular data and reopen the app again
Yes turns out its alr set in automatic
I'm very nearly out of any suggestions for you I'm afraid, this one seems to be a toughie! Long shot, but are your date and time settings for your phone set to automatic as well? Sometimes a mismatch between a device's set time and your actual time zone can cause issues.
Yupp they’re set on automatic as well
Okay then, I guess I’ll just report on help.openai.com, thanks Solbus
Good luck, please let me know if you find a resolution! This was just shared in #community-help by a user with the same issue as you, in case it's at all relevant or helpful:
"I tried turning off some privacy tracking stuff on my WiFi settings, since I do login with Google on the app, and that looks like it goes through safari in iOS (I cleared cache there too). The send button will work every now and then if I switch to dall-e and back"
Okay, got it, thanks Solbus
