By the way what history you refer too? In the actual browser or at the left side when I log into chatGPT? I talk about the left side BTW.

Okay, I just wanted to check that, just in case. One more question I have is about how you said you "turned it on way back"--this toggle is turned on by default for new accounts, so you could only turn it on yourself if you had at some point turned it off, so I just want to double check on this again.

I do not remember when but about 2 months ago I toggled it and I kept it at the ON position since and I never bothered to change it to the OFF state.

That's the question I'm asking: this toggle is "on" by default from the beginning of everyone's account. So if it was ever "off" for you, it's because you or someone with access to your account turned it "off." Does that make sense? Does someone else maybe have access to your account, if this happened to you?

The point is, that if you would look at my activity log or the log for the status change of the training option, you could see I did not bother to put it off for quite some time and from one hour to the next ALL conversation gone and I seem to get nothing back since.
I am the only one who has access to my account and I was at my desk for hours on that day working on something important, than latter on I opened my tablet to continue and everything gone!
I am quite regularly log off too as I do not like the session key things as that allows to keep login without re-authentication indefinitely.

Thank you for clarifying! I'm glad you've posted here, because if Chat History & Training was not disabled, and you still lost your chat history, that certainly sounds like a bug. Hopefully someone at OpenAI can take a closer look for you and maybe give you some insight Sorry I can't offer any other advice!

The only other question I have, since you mentioned browser history earlier: can you go to your browser history and find a chat link from before November 2nd? If so, what happens when you try to load that directly? It should be any link that starts with "chat.openai.com/c/..."

I tried that on my desktop shortly after I discovered on my mobile that all my conversations were gone there. I got nowhere like nothing exist.

And since I cleared my cache and used all kind of things private windows etc as suggested in the FAQ!

Ah, so you don't have access to browser history prior to Nov 2 either? Shoot!!

Well FAQ suggested to clear browser cache, try private window, try different browsers I tried all that.
look what does that matter? I do not have any prior conversation. I do not think they should have been in my browser, all my conversations should should have been on a server somewhere browser or not.

Now I only see new conversations and nada niente nothing prior.

I don't think clearing your browser cache is the same as clearing your browser history--did you do both just to be safe? Any way you could double-check?

Ok. Look I just checked the actual history and I see my previous links in my history. I tried to open one and says unable to load conversation ….

Shoot, definitely seems like it got deleted one way or another then. Again, glad you've posted here in case by some chance someone at OpenAI could identify some glitch that happened to your account. I haven't heard of this one myself before!

What was also strange is that after it happened, my user name at the bottom is not showed my email name as it used to next to the small circle icon, but now it shows what my name is on my account.

That UI change happened for everyone not long ago, it has everyone's account name there now.

Yeah, and since that time I do not have any conversations from prior. Definitely a bug they introduced but not bothered to fix it for me despite my numerous attempt to reach them. I only get cold dumb bots to help despite being an paying customer who did not miss a single payment yet. Now I cancelled it, so I am waiting til my subscription finally expired and I did not decided yet if I want to pay again. It took quite some time before they got my trust than decided to pay it, but now I am not so sure that it was the right thing to pay for given the experience currently I am having with no real support person to talk to who could fix it.
