#Web Browsing no longer available
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It's no longer a toggle for anyone, but it should be appearing by default for you. It disappearing seems to be a glitch. Thanks for reporting to keep up visibility!
I have the same issue. The browse with Bing option isn't available. See link below for a video that shows the options I see when logged in.

Until this is fixed, can you still start a Browse chat in the app, and continue it like normal from the web?
How do I do that?
Do you have access to an iOS or Android device that you can install the official ChatGPT app on?
Andriod
Great! On your Android device, can you click the button "Get it on Google Play" on this page?
Yes, it seems to be a temporary glitch that it is missing on the web version, it's usually there for everyone but it is currently missing for some.
I'm glad you got it on your phone! In the meantime, you should be able to start a Browse chat in the app, and then continue it like normal on the web version!
Was there any email notification sent about this change - "It's no longer a toggle for anyone"?
No, I believe it just disappeared quietly. On web, it's only been Plugins and ADA toggles for awhile now, Browse on by default. On app, Android at least, Beta Features is totally gone and Browse and Voice are on by default.
@quick python why does the web browser default is limited to January 2022 knowledge?
its current
I have the same problem a few days ago it worked correctly and without problem, but suddenly the option to search on the internet does not appear either, I can only search on the internet through chats that I started before the error
instead in a chat that started before the error
and these are the options that allow me to not have the web browsing option appear
Yes same with me
@gray depot sounds like you two already know the workaround of continuing an existing Browse chat on web--you should be able to start a new one in the app any time you want, too, and also continue it on the web: #community-help message
@quick python no I have not been able to work around it unless I use the old chat, which is for a product at OpenAI's level pretty ridiculously crap UX
I also subs on the API
Any suggestion, udpate, bug, etc on why or how is this happening?
Do you have access to the iOS or Android app? If so, you should be able to start a new Browse chat there any time you want, and then continue from the web. I can't speak to the rest other than these suggestions, I'm just a ChatGPT user like you!
Workaround doesnt work for me. Im unable to choose Browsing in the Android app. I also have an old chat where i used browsing but that chat also does not browse anymore
When you start a new chat in the Android app, can you open the dropdown menu under GPT-4 by tapping and holding on it for a sec? If so, do you see Browse there?
Do you have an update available by chance?
No update available, im on 1.2023.285
Do you have a VPN installed and active by chance?
installed yes, but not active
Can you check to see if the VPN app has a separate "Web Protection" feature, or something that sounds similar? You may need to disable it separately, even if the VPN is disabled already.
Oh, actually i removed the VPN a couple of weeks ago
Okay! I'm just wondering about the icons in the top left corner of your screen, the shield with a check mark looks like maybe a VPN/ad blocker kind of thing maybe? Do you have anything like that, that might be filtering your traffic like that?
Otherwise, can you try closing the app, turning off WiFi, and trying again, to see if a different network fixes anything?
its adguard, i disabled it and restarted the app, now there is in fact browsing and dalle availble 🙂
i enabled adguard again, restarted the app and the options aer still availble. weird but ill take it, cheers
Hooray! Now you should be able to start a Browse chat on app and continue it on web like normal, too.
So is this a bug they will eventually fix on the browser? I dont use the app.
Hopefully it's just a temporary bug, yes. There's been no kind of announcement saying it was going away or anything. Do you have access to a device where you could install the app, even if temporarily?
Mine is like this too, it's not a browser problem, but rather some lucky users with this bug. In another Plus account that I open on the same browser and device, it works normally.
I have the same symptoms. It's normal on the IPhone app, but not on the web version.
Same
same here and could only enable advanced data analysis & plugins
