It looks like the Android app is using the "phone" channel, rather than the media channel. I am wearing hearing aids because my hearing is pretty bad. When the phone channel is used, the audio is not handled by my hearing aids (ASHA protocol). I would recommend using the media channel for audio output. That way I get the audio through my hearing aids and not over the phone's regular speaker.

Thanks for the report. What version of the app are you testing with? Do your hearing aids show as a Bluetooth audio device or something else?
I get the same issue, on the 1.2023.313 version of the app. it makes the quality super low, and it ignores "do not disturb" on samsung phones
Yes same!
I get no voice chat since Saturday
@alpine flame can you clarify what you mean by "do not disturb"?
Yes - but what do you mean by it ignores it?
when you use the do not disturb function on a samsung phone, it will mute your media volume and alarms. however, it does not mute your call volume, as you can still make calls while the do not disturb function is enabled.
with chatgpt, it uses the call audio channel, which isnt muted.
The use of the call audio channel is intended as it allows us to support Bluetooth mic + playback on the widest variety of devices, but I appreciate the feedback and understand the concern.
it sounds really bad though
What device are you using, and is this on phone speaker or Bluetooth? Call audio does use different codecs so the quality difference is expected unfortunately.
this is on my phones speaker
galaxy note10+
when i first used the audio function on chatgpt, it used the normal media volume speaker, which sounded crisp. then suddenly, it changed to using the call audio channel.
this was like, a week or two ago
Correct, we changed that in a previous release for the reasons mentioned above. Definitely something we'll continue to test and improve however we can with the goal of having the best quality while supporting the most devices we can. Appreciate the feedback.
