Suddenly getting a message: Your OpenAI account has been deactivated, please check your email for more information. If you feel this is an error, contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.

  • I have not gotten an email regarding this. I have 2 years worth of correspondance with OpenAI and none of it has anything to do with account deactivation.
  • There is no reason for my account to have been deactivated, my activities on ChatGPT are incredibly mundane, I use it mostly for work
  • I'm paying for ChatGPT Plus, and have been subscribed since it came out

I had the same experience.
I live in Japan, but suddenly I could not log in to ChatGPT, and when I looked at my email, I found the following email received just before 9:00 am Japan time today, about an hour before DJ Stomp made this post.

You are receiving this email because we have identified suspicious activity on your account. In order to protect our platform, we have refunded and In order to protect our platform, we have refunded and canceled your subscription.

In addition, I received an email for a refund of the last two months' subscription fees.

I have had an OpenAI account for a couple of years and have been using ChatGPT since it was first released, but I was shut out of both the OpenAI platform and ChatGPT Plus with the above email.

I have contacted support.

Please let me know if DJ Stomp has any progress.

@upper willow I'm sorry to hear you had a similar experience, although it's encouraging to hear you were at least refunded your subscription fees, I've yet to receive any communication from openai regarding my account.

I'll update if I have anything to report 🫡
