We have tried it several times, but never did. Somehow we did beat it every time. It takes a hell of a lot damage from falling, then a few more hits from throwing fire and such (and sometimes having a friend that min-maxes the game and has a rogue with 1 action and two bonus actions that does more damage than on of our turns in each shot with a mini crossbow or something).
