This is happening to me using ChatGPT-4, Windows 11, Firefox browser, and in Android Chrome.
I've discovered a problem I saw somebody else also report in the chatgpt channel yesterday, Until they report the issue fixed, do NOT try to edit your very first prompt in any conversation, you'll lose access to the earlier version of that prompt. To reproduce this problem, start a brand new chat, enter any prompt, wait for the results. Then go back and edit this prompt, the very first prompt in your new conversation, and then get a result from the edited prompt. Check to see if you have the arrow keys that let you page between the two prompts. For me, they're missing. For the time being, do not try to edit and redo any first prompts in your saved chats, you might lose accesss to the earlier versions. You might have already lost earlier versions of chats where you already edited the first prompt. This does not seem to affect prompts deeper in the conversation.
