Bug Report:

The page sometimes automatically reloads while the chat history is disabled.
The result is that the whole current chat is lost.

Can you do something to prevent automatic page reloads while the chat history is disabled?

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Disable Chat history
  2. Chat with ChatGPT until the page automatically reloads

Expected result:

Page never reloads automatically during chatting

Actual result:

Sometimes the page reloads automatically and the chat is gone

Browser: Safari, Firefox
OS: MacOS, Windows

For me the refresh even occurs when I click on the text box to continue the conversation :/

Yeah, I really hope this is not a feature to force the use of conversation history.

As additional information, it doesn't look like it's necessarily a page reload, just the conversation is refreshed (as if the user had clicked "Clear chat")

This bug has been driving me crazy the last couple of days. There are more details in this community discussion:

One case where it seems to happen when is switching back to the ChatGPT window as a focus event. Some of the people there are using scripts/extensions to try and prevent this, but even those hacks/solutions only seem to buy some more time before it is wiped. (NOTE: anyone reading that thread, please be skeptical and careful when considering running custom scripts or adding extensions!)

I really hope this gets some traction and resolved soon!

The “No Chat History + Training” does seem to be an afterthought when it comes to updates. I can understand that we can’t have any history as OpenAI does a lot of work on the conversation in the back-end. What I CAN’T understand is how it’s been 3 days without any sort of acknowledgement on a “feature” that completely breaks usage.

Honestly, this is stupid. Like people said in this post, Chat History Off is unusable now. You can't keep a conversation for longer than a couple of messages. Seriously considering canceling my subscription

Same issue, thought this was just becasue I was using it from a macOS Safari web app and there was some issue with that but looks like its more general, didn't try it since yesterday
