#Helicopter wheels

That’s not too uncommon? The Eurocopter Dauphin for example has them. Or airbus H160 or the Erickson aerial crane (just Googling a few I don’t know them off the top of my head)
No idea why some have them and some don’t
I wonder why some have them
I didn't think helicopters were able to move on the ground like a car or plane due to the rotor design
I think they can. It would be useful to move it in and out of hangars for example, even if it has to be dragged out by another vehicle. Add simple breaks so you don’t roll off when you don’t want to and its a nice thing.
It also allows landings while moving forwards, as you won’t drag the skids across the ground but roll to a stop. Would make some landings safer I guess?
Those are great points! I guess I never thought about how helicopters move to and from hangars
I still don’t know how they do it! Most helicopters seem to have skids instead of wheels. Although I did spot a few where the wheels were hidden inside the skids, maybe that is the common method?
