**Steps to reproduce:**
> 1. Open a new GPT-4 chat in the ChatGPT chat.openai window
> 2. Discuss something
> 3. Go beyond the 25 limit with no warning or other issues
> 4. Be a GPT-4 API key holder
> 5. The model tells you after a bunch of messages, and after being probed, that it is GPT-3
> 6. Tell it is GPT-4 model.
> 7. it assures you it is GPT-3
> 8. be unable to determine which model it is, and therefore how to analyse its responses, when try to analyse and determine prompt strategies to elicit logical inference.

**Expected result:**
> It says it is GPT-4

**Actual result:**
> you are GPT 4

The knowledge cutoff of GPT-4 is still Sep 2021, which is before the release of GPT-4. So it's not aware of its own existence per its knowledge cutoff. This is a common hallucination.
