What was the context of the chat before this? It seems like you might have insisted yourself that 4+4=2+2 at some point? If so, it could be because ChatGPT is a language model, and not a math model, and a language model designed to agree with you for the most part. This means you can kind of force it to hallucinate if you're insistent on something.

but wouldn’t it be better if it corrected your mistakes instead of agreeing
(also if you want to know what was said before 4+4=2+2:

at first i randomly said 4+4
and it replied with “4+4 is equal to 8”
then i asked 2+2+2+2
and it again said it’s equal to 8
so then i wanted to say 4+4=2+2+2+2 but accidentally said 4+4=2+2=2+2
and it said “yes that’s correct! 4+4 is equal to 2+2 which is equal to 2+2 and the answer is 8”) i do understand it’s my fault for confusing the bot, but in my opinion i think they should let it correct you and not agree with you
