Per the ChatGPT release notes there are Beta features that should allow ChatGPT Plus users (paid subscription) that knows when and how to browse the internet to answer questions about recent topics and events.
Here is the link to OpenAI's release notes:

  1. I do have a ChatGPT Pus subscription
  2. I did set the beta feature to "web browsing"
And here is an example of a prompt and reply illustrating the "bug"
prompt: can you check the lates on Supabase serverless functions
ChatGPT Plus response: I'm sorry for the confusion, but as an AI developed by OpenAI, I don't have the ability to browse the internet in real time, and my training data only goes up until September 2021.

Getting closer to making this work.
For me it was these steps: 1) make sure you have beta "web browsing" activated in settings 2) start a new chat and hover over "ChatGPT 4" and select "browsing beta" (make sure check box is checked).
