I am writing to report a critical issue I am facing with accessing my OpenAI account. Im a paying customer, I request in need assistance to resolve this problem.

Problem Description:
I am unable to access my OpenAI account due to an OTP (One-Time Password) verification code request. The main issue is that I registered my account several months ago using a phone number that I no longer have access to. Unfortunately, the OpenAI website does not provide an option to update or change registered phone numbers, which has led to the current situation where I am unable to receive the OTP code required for login.

Steps Leading to the Problem:

Initially, I registered for OpenAI services and successfully accessed my account using my previous phone number.
However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have access to that phone number.
When I attempted to log in recently, I was prompted to enter an OTP code, but as I mentioned, I am unable to receive the code due to the unchangeable phone number associated with my account.
Despite my efforts to seek support through the OpenAI Discord server, I have only been able to interact with bots, which have been unable to address my issue.
As a paying customer, I am frustrated and disappointed by the lack of human support and the absence of an option to change my phone number.
Request for Assistance:
I kindly request information to resolve this issue. As a paying user, The primary solutions I am seeking are as follows:

Providing an alternative method to verify my identity and gain access to my account,
Enabling the option for users to update their registered phone numbers to avoid similar access issues in the future.

I trust that OpenAI takes customer satisfaction seriously and will prioritize resolving this matter for a loyal paying customer. I urge you to please escalate this issue to the relevant department or team members who can address it promptly.

Thank you for any help you can provide me

Another thing I'm unsure about is whether the origin of the problem was activating the ChatGPT browser to gain access to the plugins because as soon as I activated it, the issue arose.

Your not going to like to options just a heads up

#

The only solution to stop the automatic billing is (deleting your account / disabling your credit card)

#

As for the account, your kind of screwed

#

You can however make a new account with the correct phone number but that’s also risking an abuse ban

#

(Multiple accounts)

What you're telling me sounds like science fiction. I am the user with my account number and credentials, my email, my ID, and my legal identification are not tied to a phone.

It’s not my rule haha

But seriously your best bet is deleting the old one

#

And praying they don’t find the new one

#

Also if you had setup 2fa with google auth you would of been fine

It is impossible. I have sent an email to support. Do you know where I could send a claim to address the issue of mobile and email access?

Thank you for the fast reply, I am having the same exact problem, I have been doing some digging and found out I get an OTP Code when I make an account or something similar? Problem is, I never got an OTP Code when making my account, I don't get an sms on my phone that I have my personal phone number linked to, I don't get an email the account is on, etc etc, I have been scratching my head the last days figuring out what to do.

Thank you for your response. It seems we are facing a similar issue. If I understand correctly, you are not receiving the OTP (One-Time Password) code when creating your account. You mentioned that you have checked various communication channels such as SMS and email, but haven't received any notifications.

I writed to technical support team support@openai.com In addition , also sought guidance from European Advice regarding the compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regarding the denial of access, modification, and deletion of personal data. However, as these legal matters can often take time, I am still awaiting further information on the possible course of action. I will make sure to update you as soon as I have any relevant updates regarding this issue.. In the meantime, Braeden's suggestion of requesting an account deletion or patiently waiting for support to contact us seems to be the only options available. If I receive any updates or further information, I will share here
