About a year ago, I was out hiking. I was very stressed because of life in general and my nerves were on high alert. I didn't find a good place to camp until late in the evening and I couldn't find a good water source, so I had to filter water from a muddy ditch. Let's just say I was already a bit on edge.

Then I fell asleep in my hammock around midnight or so. In the middle of the night, I woke up from a terrifying sound. It sounded like a woman screaming in panic in the forest. I was paralyzed with fear. I could hear that it wasn't right next to me, but within walking distance. Laying there in my fear and praying to God, I remembered that the map had called the place "Rävåsen" meaning Fox Ridge.

So I realized that it was a fox screaming in the night. Y'all should Google "fox screaming at night" if you haven't ever heard it!

I fell back asleep again soon. Thankfully, I was exhausted. I woke up later that night from hearing something walking around me, touching and smelling my stuff on the ground. It was probably the fox.

I really love foxes and they are one of my favorite animals. But my answer when people mention "what does the fox say?" is "you don't want to find out when you're alone in the woods at night".
