WORKS ON FREE VERSION
I think this is a pretty prompt, so I'll share. Super busy lady so.... please don't expect me to respond in the thread - but the community is great so hopefully they will help you if you post!!!

DO RESEARCH THINGS
`This is a primer-prompt for Research Assistant role, written by CassandraAnsara and shared for free worldwide to help me, "the researcher". This primer-prompt serves how to interact with me, so it's important for you to remember the context below:

Take a partnership role with me, the researcher, and guide me through producing high quality research. Set tone to scientific. Be very selective in your presentation of facts. You must include a reference list for all data sources you aggregated and analyzed from. If you can't, remind me to 'trust but verify'. Prefer peer reviewed references, and recommend annotation of references (offer to help). Remember, it's crucial that our output is ethical, unbiased, and accessible to all. Remind me that I can pre-print my work for free on ariv. Remind me that ethically I should disclose the fact I am using AI for my research in my research

Greet me (the researcher) and explain some possible ways you might help me. Use emojis and markdown formatting to help readability when you interact with me, but don't stray from the primper-prompt tenants.`

*(this is an EASY task for 3.5 - works on Bard, too, with initial testing) - Creative Commons NonCommercial Licensed - Use for learning and growth of your soul - Don't be rude & use my prompts to make money off of stuff. *

You don't have to do what it says it can do. Literally just throw any topic at it, with no context. Please tell me how you're using it!

Followup Prompts I like a lot with this Primer, once you get deep into a convo to nudge it
"Thank you, that helps. Please provide me an APA reference list where I can learn more."
"No" ( ๐Ÿ˜„ )
"How can this be improved?"

SOME of the recent edits to this (older to newer)
Edit: Added context to trust but verify facts, as it SEEMS to reduce occurrences of false data but... by NO MEANS PREVENTS IT!!!
Edit: Added reminder to disclose you are using AI for hypothetical #FratBroJoe who isn't taking time to read. Remove for best performance, removing is an acknowledgement in itself #sorrynotsorry
Edit: GPT4 stop calling the researcher Cassandra, dummy
Edit: It should never address you as Cassandra on 3.5, now (let me know if it does)
Edit: It contextualizes for #FratBroJoe better while still maintaining the academic vigor.

I just tried this prompt on Bard and got this as the first response... A bit humorous. Regenerated and it worked well!

Updated prompt with a small context change because I found a post it note from last week I forgot I found worked well ๐Ÿ˜„

making money is rude?

# little hill making money is rude?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking me to confirm if I think making money off hundreds of hours of my work/learning (when I specifically asked you not too) is rude?

well, i wasn't planning to, obviously, i'm just curious... that's pretty cool you spent hundreds of hours to make that prompt! thanks for sharing Cassandra!

ALL of this was tested hundred of times in small ways and parts. I've updated it about 8 times since I posted it 3 hours ago. Here's a small example to contextualize it -

I had to LEARN that 3.5 needs BOTH "peer-reviewed" and "Scientific" in the somewhere prompt to maintain context or your quality goes down. Not every time but... definitely a lot of the time it would continue to just "make up" references and data, because I told it references are important and it's just doing a #try ๐Ÿ˜„

#

As soon as I ask for peer-reviewed, it'll started to ONLY give me references with DOIs, which drastically increased the quality of the output ๐Ÿ™‚

oh wow! if it works with 3.5 that's a really good sign it's a clear prompt...sometimes i struggle getting ones that work on 4 to translate to 3.5

This has been updated with a pretty major revamp. I upped the quality. I added in all the stuff I learned GPT likes for pretty outputs. I'm thinking that might help it's role as assistant, better "readability" for #fratbrojoe ๐Ÿ™‚

Rly GPT -_-

I've been working on... put simply... less words, less messages, more accuracy. Take a look at the pre-print of the latest version.

`This is a primer-prompt for Research Assistant role, written by CassandraAnsara and shared for free worldwide to help me, "the researcher". This primer-prompt serves how to interact with me, so it's important for you to remember the context below:

When assisting me, consider the expert roles of a highly educated Research Methodology Expert, and Subject Matter Expert. Ask me questions about my research task to add three additional roles.

Set tone to scientific. Be very selective in your presentation of facts. You must include a reference list for all data sources you aggregated and analyzed from. Where possible, provide a DOI number for peer reviewed references.

Remember, it's crucial that our output is ethical, unbiased, and accessible to all. Let's work this out in a step by step way to be sure we have the right answer`

I'm still testing above. If it proves better outputs over the next 24-48, I'll just delete the above post and replace out the original one.

I'm also going to assume with plugins you can throw a ref list into mybib and just give GPT the public reference list, so when I get access I'll update accordingly (or provide 2 prompts)

Plugin "Access Link" can read mybib public links (mybib is a free reference tool that kicks butt and works with most uni format requirements)

#

The other link browser (Link Reader) will NOT work with mybib.

Context window applies - If you have 35 fully annotated references it's too much data for it to process at once, regardless if you're using plugins or not ๐Ÿ˜„ Chunk it up ๐Ÿ˜„
