#Issue with ChatGPT Following Recent Update - Memory Persistence

Dear OpenAI Support,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Charles Prenaveau and I am a subscriber to your ChatGPT Plus service. I am writing to you with an issue I've encountered since the latest update.

In my recent interactions with the updated model, I've noticed that ChatGPT does not seem to retain information from the same conversation. It's as if a new conversation is initiated within the same chat window, causing a loss of continuity and context. This issue was not present prior to the update and I have been unable to find a solution in the help articles on your website.

The persistence of context within a conversation is a feature I valued greatly in the previous model, especially as I've taken the time to train ChatGPT with specific information pertinent to our interactions. If there is a solution to this issue, I would be grateful if you could share it with me.

If this is not something that can be immediately resolved, I was wondering if there might be a way to upload my old conversations so that the new model could learn and remember the context and information from those interactions.

Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns. I appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue and look forward to your response.

Anything past that is forgotten

I have told it stuff in the past and it used to always recall it. For example, i told it our companies website and it used it in every email it wrote. I could have it do like 100 other things and it would still remeber

Charles, I had the same thing happen to me. I have a project (and far beyond 4k limit) that expanded nearly a month with the same chat instance, and that instance being able to retrieve information far beyond that 4k limit, reaching back (for context, I exported the chat session yesterday and I have over 300 pages of text). However, I did notice this "duration" ability in this instance, only. Then, with the update yesterday, not only did I lose the instance that had the entire month long project accessible to it, the entire session was downgraded to the default GPT-3 version. And like you, I'm trying to figure out a way to retrain a new model on a months worth of work, this weekend. I'm at a loss. I've posted my problem in this feedback forum, and a few other places, but no luck in finding a solution.

It can recall information from our very first sessions

# tranquil gale Maybe it was an update glitch. It’s fixed for me now

did yours switch to the default GPT-3 for you, when it happened? Mine did, with me getting an error message telling the previous version was unavailable so the session was changed to the default model. However, you've given me hope that maybe it might be fixed on my end too. Fingers crossed and thanks for the info!
