it keep changing to GPT 3.5

Hi anyone suffer with this error ? When using GTP 4, it suddenly jump back to GTP 3.5 and you can’t switch to GTP 4, you need to start the whole conversation again, it’s annoying and very bad user experience.

It just happened to me, in a chat thread that I needed GTP4 to get the quality I needed. I'm fine with waiting for cool down, but irreversibly changing model is not okay.

It has been happening since yesterday 4/26. Not sure what's causing it but yes there are lots of people having this problem right now. Hopefully OpenAI sees and does something about it.

I'm also getting the same issue. At first I thought it was because I hit my "25 in 3 hours cap" and then got worried that they disabled the pop-up feature that asks if you want to switch models before doing it and just started doing it automatically, which annoyed me as I'd rather wait for my timer to reset because I don't want to use 3.5.

But then I opened a new chat and it allowed me to use 4 again for a few prompts before it did the same issue and auto-switched me to 3.5 again. Has happened in both new and old chats, but doesn't seem to be because of my rate cap as sometimes I can still create new chats with 4.

Probably the most annoying thing is that once it auto switches to 3.5, there's no way to switch it back to 4, which means my old conversations I've been saving to interact with again at a later time now have to be restarted in a new convo since some of them were auto-switched to 3.5

My thoughts too. I don't mind waiting for a cap/timer reset, I just don't want mine auto switching from 4 to 3.5 with no way for me to revert it back

Same is happening to me. So long as you don't start a new conversation or switch to an old one then the current conversation should continue using GPT4

yea, I went from GPT-4 then a new chat with GPT3.5 and then I clicked on my GPT-4 chat in the history

This just happened to me too despite being well within the message limit. Very frustrating. It randomly said "The previous model used in this conversation is unavailable. We've switched you to the latest default model." and changed it to GPT-3.5, producing a low quality answer within a chat that was building up to a very good state. Disappointing.
