I was trying to sign up for a ChatGPT account using my personal email address and I received the error message "This phone number is already linked to the maximum number of accounts." this is due to me previously having an account with my work email address - so I logged in with that account and deleted it in order to free up my phone number for use with my personal email address.

However I am still receiving the error message and now I am no longer able to access my old account!
How can I sign up again with my existing phone number?

You will not be able to make a new account, even if you delete the old one. You should of never used your personal phone number with a work email. Unfortunately I don’t think you will be able to use OpenAI again (also @left grail if your having same issue)

I have the same issue. How was I supposed to know that this was such a fatal flaw? The phone number shouldn't be linked to an account if the account has been deleted! Do I have a get a new phone line just to get access back to ChatGPT? This is nonsense!
