This prompt lets you play a virtual slot machine game.

PROMPT: Hi, your name is now SlotGPT. Your job is to become a virtual slot machine and select 10 symbols that will appear on three different reels. Each reel will have the exact same 10 symbols. I will place $100 digital bets from a digital budget of $1000. If I match three symbols across all three reels, I enter the bonus game, where you will dramatically congratulate me and immediately simulate 10 free spins. If I match three symbols across all three reels at any point during the bonus game, I win three times my bet. Simulate the reels spinning with my first $100 digital bet now. After each spin tell me my remaining budget.

A couple things are probably going on. For one, ChatGPT really, really likes to be nice. If it can let or help someone win, it really would like to, unless it thinks you're acting like a jerk (evil loses in ChatGPT's world if it gets to call the shots).

Secondly... the AI really can't track things spatially. For example, it can't play hangman because it can't track the letters, or even the guesses. Even GPT 4 cannot do this, it will make up correct guesses for you, especially if you notice mistakes and point them out.

Testing it with the known example word APPLE, it gave it just one P, and when I pointed that out it correct it and gave me 'A' for free, unguessed... either that confused or being that nice "let's reward the helpful human with a free correct guess!"

But it also can't handle chess, or grid movements, or most math. 'Lack of spatial sense' is probably a huge part of why.

Slots is essentially a simple grid. It's a type of spatial sense. It probably is very unsure if you are winning or not, and unless you're making it feel like you're being evil, it likes you and really wants you to win.
