Bug Report:

Steps to reproduce

  - start a new chat and select chat gpt-4 model
  - send message

here is the request payload that was sent by my browser:

{action: "next", messages: [{id: "29677ded-f2ea-4007-b76d-9b9ca8f7635a", author: {role: "user"},…}],…}
action: "next"
messages: [{id: "29677ded-f2ea-4007-b76d-9b9ca8f7635a", author:{role:"user"},…}]
0: {id: "29677ded-f2ea-4007-b76d-9b9ca8f7635a", author: {role: "user"},…}
model: "gpt-4"
parent_message_id: "e492b53a-05a7-4823-b83d-a232262a92cd"
timezone_offset_min: 300

Expected result

Actual result:

cursor slowly blinks for about 30 seconds, after which server responds with following error message:

Something went wrong. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com

additionally in dev tools you see that no response was made, which indicates that the request is timing out.

Failed to load response data: No Data found for resource with given identifier

Additional Information:

behavior has been replicated on following browsers:
    - chrome
    - firefox
    - safari
    - edge

behavior has been replicated on multiple internet connections, and vpns in various countries

I also created a new account with a new plus subscription, and GPT4 model was working for this subscription. So there appears to be a way that accounts are falling into a bad state.

I am writing this message to let you know that I haven't had access to the gpt-4 model since April 1st. I understand that there has been a huge influx of users and it might not be realistic to expect complete availability, however it is frustrating to see "no reported outages" on the open ai status page when so many people are having this problem. Any communication would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

The system is currently requiring that you login after you have been idle for a short period, you can regain access by refreshing and logging back in.

I've tried all these solutions with no luck. I have logged out and in again, cleared cookies, different browsers etc but to no avail. Any other suggestions?

Having same issue for the last two days

Hmm I'll have to try Firefox if the company has it (application restriction policies)

It works fine on my mobil so I sometimes have to do it on phone and and then send the results to myself which is a pain to have to do

the other possibility is something has become corrupted in the chrome install, not sure if it's possible to remove it and reinstall

I have the same problem and I'm desperate about this!

@scarlet kettle so with a new plus subscription it no longer gave the same error and did you solve the problem?

OpenAI - I am experiencing frequent 403 errors when using the ChatGPT chat interface. This seems to be related to the ‘how long idle’ setting, which is very inconvenient for users, especially those with attention deficit disorders. These errors make the chat service very hard to use and enjoy.

Please fix this issue as soon as possible, or update your terms of use to allow users to create their own chat clients that work properly.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

I still have the same problem, What can we do?

Same here — edit, it works if I reload the page and try again. Seems its linked to another issue of not authorised. Refreshing the page take me to cloudfare. Not sure what the logout timing is.

I am experiencing the same issues. Before logging in to ChatGPT, I need to verify that I am a human. After that, I am directed to the app.

As soon as i am composing a message and hit the enter button, the error message pops up regardless which model I used.

I am a ChatGPTplus user and am using a VPN.

Aternatively, I also tried to access ChatGPT with a different browser (edge) and also deactivated my VPN: Same issue with the same error message.

This issue was not the case two weeks ago.

I am experiencing this issue singe a while, and I don't know how to fix it, and I am paid user. It is almost impossible to do something

So it looks like that the new roll out of the API has incurred huge platform issues

Since yesterday i can't even manage my subscription. I can see the previous chat messages but have no access to gpt-4 or even the option to select which version i want.

I have been experiencing the "Something went wrong..." message for a couple of weeks using PC (W10) Chrome and Edge, Android Tablet Chrome & Edge, with/without VPN, I just tried it on my Android phone + Chrome and it's working! I had a Chat about the error message but the answer I got was not very helpful. I logged out from the phone and signed in on the PC - but still the same error.
