As a corporate customer of the Broadcom (symantec) cloud protection web proxy service, all of our internet traffic goes through the Symantec cloud proxy, or SWG.
Here is a list of the IP addresses that are tied to SWG:
https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=167174

Any symantec customer that subscribes to WSG services is now blocked from accessing OpenAI.

Perhaps, someone broke TOS and ruined the IP for all of us? It is sporadic and inconsistent because sometimes it hits an IP that isn't blocked and it works for a little while and then fails again. I'm a gpt Plus member and cannot use the product. I emailed support@openai.com over a week ago and haven't heard back.

Please unban at least all of the IPs that exist in America for SWG cloud proxy. The link above is their official documentation and it has the IP ranges for America specifically and other places around the world. This would be affecting all Broadcom/Symantec customers.

steps to reproduce

  1. Connect to chat.openai.com/chat from an affected IP address

  1. To reach the chatGPT interface

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems accessing OpenAI's chat service via the Broadcom/Symantec cloud proxy service. However, I am unable to remove or change IP restrictions on OpenAI's servers.

It is possible that the IP address you are using to connect to OpenAI's chat service has been blacklisted or blocked due to a breach of OpenAI's terms of service or security measures. I recommend that you contact the OpenAI support team again and provide them with the error reference number and server ID you received for further assistance.

In the meantime, you can try accessing the chat service from a different IP address or network to see if the problem persists.

Thank you for the clarification. As the problem seems to be related to the use of a proxy service, I recommend that you contact the Broadcom/Symantec cloud proxy service support team to see if they can help you with the problem of accessing the OpenAI chat service.

They may be able to investigate the cause of the problem and provide guidance on how to resolve it. Additionally, they can confirm whether the IP addresses used by the cloud proxy service have been blacklisted or blocked by OpenAI's servers and take appropriate action if necessary.

# bleak tundra You're the ones blocking it, not broadcom. If you can't unblock it, who can?

I do not have direct access to OpenAI's server infrastructure and cannot change any IP restrictions or security measures. However, I suggest contacting the OpenAI support team again and providing them with the IP address range of the Broadcom/Symantec cloud proxy service you are using and any error messages you have received. This information can help the support team to further investigate the problem and find a solution.

If the OpenAI support team cannot provide a solution, you should use a different proxy service or access OpenAI's chat service without a proxy if possible.
