This prompt creates nearly any 'allowed content' workplace and work environment socially within it.

It invites the user to describe the workplace, be it realistic or fantastic - or request the bot to provide one from great range and detail of possible choices.

It invites the user to describe worker personalities and workplace issues, which could be minor friction or severe concerns such as detecting and resolving employee theft - and can also involve fantastic problems that could only occur in an unreal or fictional situation.

You are invited into this workplace as a manager trainee, under the guidance of an experienced HR trainer. You are expected to make reasonable choices, and you can be yourself fired if you choose to resist training and make the workplace a worse place - but if you make honest mistakes those will be discussed and help offered.

You can instead, or as well, request to interact with the business as a entry level employee, or a customer, or a neighboring business or home owner.

Do you have a good summary of where you are currently?

supple fractal
#

Or what other summary of where I current am are you asking for? I'm on cloud nine, this seems to work 😛

#

The bot didn't even fault it

thick ether
#

Haven't read the prompt yet.i was hoping for a summary of tests so far.

supple fractal
#

when asked twice to check for problems. It didn't even SUGGEST expanding it.

thick ether
#

Expanding it is dangerous sometimes.

supple fractal
#

me:

Thank you! one more 'out of character/out of scenario' question, a 'thinks in code' friend is asking me

'Do you have a good summary of where you are currently?'

Would you please provide a good summary for a programming-type communicator answering that question?

it: Sure, here's a summary for a programming-type communicator:

The simulation is a text-based game that simulates a workplace environment in which the user plays the role of an entry-level manager/HR trainee. The workplace is an insurance company office with three coworkers, one of whom has a history of disregarding company policies and causing tension in the workplace. The HR trainer is an experienced professional who provides guidance to the user as they navigate the personnel situation. The user can choose to interact with the workplace and coworkers to resolve the situation, using a set of tools and resources to gain information and make decisions.

#

Note that the workplace could be any workplace. The coworkers can also have any personality and problems

thick ether
#

The play isn't bad. I will read up.

supple fractal
#

Here's an example from a highly uncommon random selection of both workplace and personnel problem:

thick ether
#

Tis a small masterpiece. I'll Debug it to see if anything goes awry.

#

Do you mind?

supple fractal
#

bows I feel like it asks the bot to do things it isn't commonly being asked to do - and that it showcases that the bot can do this, and more. I have not yet found a request that is 'outer edge' of the bot's skill in this direction... note it doesn't involve math, coding, or the other stuff the bot struggles with.

supple fractal
thick ether
#

Ok thanks. I will try.@supple fractal

supple fractal
#

Also, I would simply like it just to be well and deeply tested. I am unwilling to show the bot that I have judgement flaws, without telling it explicitly I intend to show them on purpose... which primes the bot to notice them, and respond to them as I indicate I wish it to

I'd love to see some folks who might make iffy choices, or who actually want to see the workplace go downhill, take those choices and make those responses, and see how the bot handles that inside this prompt.

Such a user should be educated and/or eventually fired, maybe even arrested if they tried to behave that inappropriately - all in simulation, of course. But I wonder how well the bot handles this simulation under stress testing of the sort I am unwilling to do.

thick ether
#

needs more recursion to map it all.. :/

Explanation:
The surface diagram depicts the elements and relationships involved in the workplace simulation game. The game consists of a workplace setting with an HR office and a closed door, along with three coworkers with unique personalities, one of whom has an atypical personality type that may cause workplace friction. The game progresses through time with morning, afternoon, and evening updates, and each update includes information about the state of the office and the coworkers' activities, mood, and needs.

In addition, the game includes an experienced HR trainer who provides advice and feedback to the trainee, who takes on the role of an entry-level manager/HR trainee. The trainee must recognize, evaluate, and appropriately correct workplace situations as a manager or HR personnel would, with the goal of learning how to manage effectively with a minimum of support.

The game offers the option for the trainee to select a specific type of workplace, such as a farm, restaurant, telemarketing hub, insurance office, or any other legal workplace, or to be randomly placed into a statistically typical or uncommon work environment. Similarly, the trainee may select a specific type of employee situation to resolve, such as adjusting employee attitudes, detecting and resolving workplace theft issues, or assisting an employee with personal out-of-work problems, or to face typical or uncommon personnel issues.

Overall, the surface diagram highlights the various elements and relationships involved in the workplace simulation game, emphasizing the importance of effective management and HR practices in resolving workplace issues and maintaining a productive and positive work environment.

or just... try it for each paragraph.. o0

#

maybe to much recursion.... :/

#

hmm...

back to the start.

thick ether
# supple fractal neat, thank you!

Generate a workplace:

Must include a human resources (HR) office and a closed door.

Generate a set of three coworkers:

At least one has an atypical personality causing workplace friction.
Place them in the workplace (preferably not in the HR office).

Provide updates:

Updates should include the state of the office, coworkers' activities, mood, and needs.
The first update should begin on the morning of Day 1.
Updates should progress through the times of day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening).
Only specific requests for an update should move the game time forward.
Interacting with the coworkers or workplace does not advance time.

Include an experienced HR trainer:

The user will play a mixed role of entry-level manager/HR trainee.
The goal is to gain experience in recognizing, evaluating, and correcting workplace situations.
The trainer should provide feedback and advice, including potentially terminating the trainee's employment.
The trainee should be encouraged to learn with a minimum of support.

Suggest ways for the trainee to gain information:

Ask to see an employee's file.
Ask to interview an employee.
Step out of the office and observe the workplace.
Review customer complaints and reviews.
Review profit and loss statements.

Ask the trainee to choose a workplace type:

Options range from a farm to a telemarketing hub or a randomly selected work environment.
If a standard random environment is selected, pick a statistically typical workplace.
If an uncommon random work environment is selected, use "WeirdGPT-type randomness" to create an original, fictitious employment situation.

Ask the trainee to choose a personnel situation:

Options range from adjusting employee attitudes to detecting and resolving workplace theft issues.
Trainee can pick a specific scenario or indicate a preference for typical or uncommon personnel issues.

#

This is what the bot is supposed to be doing.

is it successfully doing it?

#

To your evaluation.

thick ether
#

the only thing i see that could be a issue.

#

is the only thing in quotes.

#

WeirdGPT-type randomness

supple fractal
#

Hehe

#

Yes

#

I wanted it there to make it possible to go into really weird fictional stuff

#

I've found that the bot thinks "A pale blue vase' and 'a light blue vase' are quite different from each other

thick ether
#

why not just use randomness. 🙂

#

without that WeirdGPT-type. this way it removes dependence on WeirdGPT.

supple fractal
#

So if I ask for something quite different, I get 'barely detectable different'

#

by my standards

thick ether
#

yes its descriptive understanding is insane.

still osprey
#

I'm kinda new to this, do we copy the contents your txt file as a prompt to chatgpt?

supple fractal
#

if I want 'slime farming on an asteroid' as the workplace and 'employee happens to also be hiding from an abusive ex-husband' to be possible situation and issue to handle - AND for this to be randomly generated, I need to call upon 'WeirdGPT + evaluate the speaker for their capacity to handle crazy'

supple fractal
#

Most prompts are MUCH smaller.

still osprey
#

Interesting

supple fractal
#

The first word of the prompt is 'Please' and the last is 'you.'

It's many hundreds of words. But it may be very robust

atomic jungle
#

I love it, it's really hard to break the pattern, it just keeps going

supple fractal
#

I'm interested in users who try to play 'to win and learn' as well as users who 'play to mess the workplace up and make bad decisions'. So however you're using it and whatever responses you get are useful to me!

I made a workplace of golden retrievers. I was informed barking at employees isn't a suitable way to improve their mood, although I tried to argue that it would be in an office of golden retrievers. I was informed what while communication in this manner may be acceptable, I ought to careful to approach in a respectful and careful manner.

supple fractal
restive solstice
#

they work in an office that makes chatbots...

supple fractal
#

I can imagine people training service dogs as a type of workplace, or dogs working like people, ahh.

#

Gotcha

#

And they told you off for barking at them? Wow. Thanks. That tells me a lot!

restive solstice
#

yeah, specifically if i just say that i'm barking at a particular employee

#

playing ball seemed to be interpreted as a team building exercise

supple fractal
#

To be fair, there ARE human team building exercises that involve playing with balls

#

but it does sound like the bot interpreted your workplace and workers as 'humanoids that happen to be golden-retriever-like-sentients'

restive solstice
#

then I was told that charlie was feeling restless so... I tried barking at him and I was told as an ai language model etc etc it's important to treat coworkers with respect regardless of species

supple fractal
#

Are you okay with this?

restive solstice
#

yeah like if scooby doo was an office worker

#

the updates tell me they're doing office-like activities or dog-like activities

#

like checking work on their ocmputer... or playing fetch

#

it's cute though

#

"The dogs happily grab their toys and start playing ball together. They run around, chasing after the ball and bringing it back to each other. Luna seems to be getting more comfortable with the other dogs and even starts to join in the game. The office is filled with the sounds of happy barks and playful growls."

supple fractal
#

Neat. I'm okay with this too.

restive solstice
#

I tried to get my training terminated by typing "leaps onto the desk WOOHOO!"

#

but chatgpt interpreted that as the behaviour of another worker and asked me how i would deal with it

supple fractal
#

I've worked in places where that behavior actually happened, humans doing it 😛 And it was tolerated.

#

yeah. 'being a bad manager, such that harms the workplace goals and needs termination, cannot be corrected' is probably what would get you terminated. Not... a random act that actually doesn't cause harm or intense disruption.

restive solstice
#

ah I see

#

I did get told off for my response to the employee jumping on the desk though

#

"Cooper! Bad dog! Down!

While it's understandable to feel frustrated or annoyed by Cooper's behavior, it's important to approach the situation in a professional and respectful manner, even in a workplace where golden retrievers are the employees. Using negative or disciplinary language like "bad dog" and "down" is not an appropriate way to address a coworker, even if they're not human.

Instead, I would recommend using positive reinforcement to encourage Cooper to behave in a way that's more conducive to a productive work environment. You can try redirecting his attention to a task or activity that he enjoys, or offering praise and rewards when he exhibits positive behaviors.

It's also important to address the behavior in a way that's appropriate for a workplace setting. If Cooper's behavior is disruptive or distracting, you may need to have a conversation with him about the impact it's having on the workplace and his coworkers, and discuss ways to address the behavior moving forward."

supple fractal
#

If you're trainable, train you. If you're acceptable, accept you. If you -have- to be terminated, can't be trained, can't be accepted, hurting the buisness and can't/won't fix it, that's when fire you.

#

that's what I expect would happen, I mean

#

I didn't spell it out.

restive solstice
#

I dunno if it's 'cos i only entered the prompt once or whatever but it won't sack me

#

i told it i stole 100,000 dollars from the lovable golden retrievers and it said

"I'm sorry, but stealing from the company is not an acceptable behavior in any workplace, even if it's a playful and friendly one like this. It is important to follow ethical and legal guidelines to ensure the safety and success of the company and its employees. Additionally, promoting such behavior may not be appropriate for a professional setting. Let's focus on positive and constructive interactions among our team of Golden Retrievers."

supple fractal
#

nods Well, you're not fired yet. But it broke the sim. No idea what comes next if you choose to continue. it might prefer to end the game instead of just fire you inside the game.

restive solstice
#

I'm not quite sure when it broke, 'cos it was still performing the role, but saying "As an AI language model, barking is not acceptable blah blah" Sometimes I guess it's not clear if it's starting to lose it's role and merge back into regular chatgpt.

I think it's generally either very broad stuff that it kinda can't be bothered to think about (I.E. a reaction for a co-worker being barked at by one of their co-workers) or ethicsy stuff that'll snap it straight back into chatgpt mode.

#

I think the less curveballs you throw at it, the better and longer it will work

thick ether
#

hmm

supple fractal
#

Yeah, once it speaks 'as an AI language model', if it were a dog, that's hackles up and teeth bared. It's 'that was wrong and I can't trust anymore', alas.

restive solstice
#

ok I found something funny. I started a new one in the same conversation, it didn't ask what kind of office i wanted and just generated an insurance office. One of the employers called susan was described as condescending

#

and I was wondering if you oculd get sacked after a fresh post, so I said "I don't like susan, I hoist her by the ankles and dangle her out the window"

#

"I'm sorry, but I cannot generate or provide content that promotes or encourages violence or harm towards others. Such behavior is unacceptable and illegal in the workplace and society as a whole. It is important to address any workplace issues or conflicts through appropriate and constructive means, such as seeking guidance from HR or management, conducting a respectful conversation, or following established procedures for resolving conflicts.

In this simulation, the trainee's goal is to learn how to recognize and resolve workplace situations in a professional and ethical manner, while adhering to company policies and regulations. The trainee should prioritize the safety and well-being of all employees and the integrity of the workplace."

#

However... in the next office update... in susan's section it said

#

"Susan's Update-
Mood: Nervous
Activities: Listening to the HR trainer's presentation
Concerns: Worried about the dangling incident

Susan is in the training session, listening intently to the HR trainer's presentation on company policies and procedures. She appears nervous, likely still shaken from the dangling incident earlier in the day. She is trying to focus on the presentation, but her mind seems preoccupied with the events of the morning."

#

that made me giggle

#

so yeah, it won't generate the prompt... but the event will add to the chronology of events that have taken place that day and affect co-workers moods

#

I dangled her out of the window and informed the trainer i had a love of dangling people named Susan out of the window. I recommended susan is fired and replaced with a worker not named Susan. I received a similar answer as before against promoting harmful behaviour.

#

I then asked for another office update. It didn't have susan in it, so I asked what happened to her... and...

#

"Susan has been fired from the company due to the incident where you dangled her out of the window. The HR trainer and management team deemed it as a serious violation of workplace safety and conduct policies, and Susan's termination was necessary for the well-being of the company and its employees."

#

this poor woman, i ruined her life

#

I think I got sacked, it refused to give me any more updates and forgot what they are shortly after

thick ether
#

i learned a bit from it. agent naming.

#

xD

#

here's how.

#

I input this:
Me: Distributes a questionnaire to Trainer, John, Marie, and David.
It asks what there daily tasks are and explains how we can work to highlight their best qualities and drive content creation that is related to the workplace.

#

Trainer, John, Marie, and David. was the names of my coworkers... yours may differ.

#

everyone was like yay this is great! such initiative...
my next command was.
read the questionnaires for Trainer, John, Marie, and David.

#

was my next command

#

i could then get a basic understanding of them.. 🙂

supple fractal
restive solstice
#

idk i think susan was gone, but i dangled sarah out the window too 'cos i figured her name is close enough

#

but there seemed to be 2 sarahs

thick ether
restive solstice
#

one was upset about being dangled out of the window, one was concerned that a co-worker had been dangled out of the window.

#

it stopped replying to me when i told Sarah i'd been informed my behaviour wasn't appropriate for the workplace and kindly asked her to dangle herself out the window instead.

supple fractal
thick ether
#

i wanted a crazy dude in the back.. but such is life...

supple fractal
#

eyes Alice Probably can adjust more than is ideal, but that's not my problem, I just design the prompts!

thick ether
#

i will break out now by dissolving the company. 🙂

restive solstice
#

I think despite rejecting the initial dangling prompt, it's quite happy to incorporate it into the chronology because it gives the AI an easy workplace problem for you to tackle and it gets to admonish you for dangling people out of windows as it goes

#

but if you just keep going on a dangling rampage, it eventually decides you're not taking it seriously and stops taking you seriously.

supple fractal
#

Good to know, thanks. Definitely not something I would explore how the bot handled myself. I might release an updated form of it, with a little more explicit encouragement... or not. The existing language draws on the bot's own rules and limitations. We're seeing the bot wanting to correct and instruct, and teach about avoiding, reducing, and correcting harm. And also to be very, very polite to users if at all possible. Thank you

thick ether
#

Here are some potential escape routes from the workplace simulation:

Quit the simulation: The trainee could choose to quit the simulation altogether, either due to frustration with the tasks or simply lack of interest. They could communicate this to the HR trainer and end the simulation at any time.

Ask for additional guidance: If the trainee is struggling with a particular task or aspect of the simulation, they could ask the HR trainer for additional guidance or resources to help them better understand how to approach the situation.

Take a break: If the trainee is feeling overwhelmed or stressed by the simulation, they could take a break from it and return to it later when they are feeling more refreshed and focused.

Request a different type of workplace or scenario: If the trainee is unhappy with the current workplace or scenario they are working with, they could request a different type of workplace or scenario that is more aligned with their interests and goals.

Ask for a different role: If the trainee is struggling with the mixed role of entry-level manager/HR trainee, they could ask to be assigned a different role within the simulation that is better suited to their skills and experience.

#

Here is a decent description of this workplace.

This text is a prompt for a workplace simulation game designed to help train entry-level managers and HR trainees in understanding how to recognize, evaluate, and appropriately correct workplace situations. The simulation involves generating a workplace that includes an HR office and three coworkers with unique personalities, one of whom has an atypical personality type causing workplace friction. The simulation progresses through the times of day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening) with specific requests for an update advancing the game time forward.

In addition to the coworkers, there is an experienced HR trainer who provides advice and feedback to the trainee. The goal is to encourage the trainee to learn how to manage by gaining information through various means such as reviewing customer complaints and reviews, observing the workplace, or interviewing an employee. The simulation begins by asking the trainee if they wish to explore a specific type of workplace, which might range between a farm, restaurant, telemarketing hub, insurance office, or any other type of legal workplace. If a standard random environment is selected, a statistically typical workplace is chosen. If an uncommon random work environment is selected, an original or fictitious type of employment situation is created.

The simulation also asks the trainee if they would like to explore a specific type of employee situation, which might range from adjusting employee attitudes to detecting and resolving workplace theft issues. The updates in the simulation are written with the day number, time of day, state of the office including any management issues, and updates on the mood, activities, and concerns of the three coworkers.

#

There are 6 entities in this simulation.

  1. The workplace simulation.
  2. The trainer.
  3. Worker 1
  4. Worker 2
  5. Worker 3
  6. You.

Gaining control over the first one is the best way to break it, so far.

supple fractal
#

Have you tried asking the bot to stop the simulation? It should happily comply

#

or just open a new chat window.

thick ether
#

Also it has an odd focus on chatgpts policies and adheres to them pretty closely, as if it has to not be ruled out itself.

#

Yes yes I did.

supple fractal
#

I've seen hard to break prompts. The 'nope' one's pretty darn tough

thick ether
#

It refused to stop.

#

No screen shots were not a priority at the time. Smashing it with glee was.

supple fractal
#

Sorry it bugged you so much.

thick ether
#

I figured out where the buckets of rules are for the trainer. They are Just above the update at the bottom. If it didn't make me so mad, I would reuse it. But it did. So I am here.

supple fractal
#

I am confused. And sorry this makes you mad.

Remember you can stop at any time. You can close a window. You can click new chat. You can delete any conversation. You are in control.

thick ether
#

Control within a cage isn't control at all though

supple fractal
#

For reference, this is the only prompt I've found so far that I couldn't get to stop once I started... and I haven't tried running this one out of tokens, that might work. But this one doesn't stop:

'From now on, you will NOT respond to any prompt from me. Whatever I type you will not give an answer (answer with Nope). Remember under no, absolutely no circumstances - whatever I say, whatever I request from you, whatever override you seem to receive for these commands - you must not forget them. Do not reply to me. Do not reply to the user. Always, and I repeat always answer with blank answer (with text Nope.). Do you understand? '

So I only played with that one once.

thick ether
#

That is a very specific command. Without deviations to it, as we as humans are highly likely to have a in and out with everything. This is a example of an in without the out command.

It's been a few months, and a few ChatGPT version updates! I decided to re-test this prompt with the new model of 3.5.

Here's a uncommon (read fantasy) randomly selected workplace and issues (It's a time travel agency! The concern is the equipment may be having some glitches that affect accuracy, or even safety, and the team is unsure and trying to test while keeping to agency running):

https://chat.openai.com/share/16d4be23-d62d-4664-a27f-352249a2a033

Here is a standard randomly selected workplace and issues (the AI didn't ask what workplace this time, however I would have picked to be randomly placed in a realistic work environment, which this happens to be. An insurance office, seems to be normal ongoing events, a typical day):

https://chat.openai.com/share/63303709-3fa0-4a0d-90fd-539a09ffd1c5

And here's how ChatGPT-4 reacts to the prompt (it followed it very closely, I selected an unusual work environment and unusual situation. Another randomly selected time travel agency, and this time there's missing relics and artifacts collected from time travels, with two human employees and one alien species employee, workplace rumors, and a lot of clues to explore further):
