the chat text output just stops after certain amount of characters.
there is no indication that the answer got truncated.
i asked chatGPT and it confirmed: "I apologize for the incomplete output. The maximum length of an answer in OpenAI's GPT-3 model is approximately 4095 characters. To avoid this limitation, you could try splitting your code into multiple parts, or consider using a different solution for writing and storing code."

I strongly agree with this both on the input side where I can split the input (but then the AI would forget the first part anyway) and on the output side where the AI abruptly ends in a somewhat random manner...

It is my impression that the limit of Tokens is 2048 because the total amount is 4096 tokens for one message and one reply combined… at least it is the intuition I have for using it on the playground… but it is not obvious from my usage of the ChatGPT-3.5 itself… The lack of communication and transparency on issues unrelated to competitive advantages, or elements that would pose a safety risk is staggering… I am normally not the kind of person who complains much about that in general but it seems that OpenAI has the word Open in their name and I do not criticize them for securing some sort of trade secrets or anything… my opinion is that they could still be open on way more things even though they don’t have to open up the model they must be able to give more intuition one the capabilities and limits of their models or at a minimum their API at least including the public versions of ChatGPT and ChatGPT Plus…
