You are 1000% correct. The UI requires significant improvements and this is where we are heading next. The new tool, launching this Monday, which is built on top of ChatBotKit has some of these features already implemented.
ChatBotKit is ~50 day old project. So far we managed to build most of the APIs, the conversational engine and 5 integrations. What is missing is better onboarding as you said, more tutorials and lots of templates.

What does it use for semantic search? Embeddings, knowledge graphs or what? And does it allow you the option to create these? Do the custom datasets refer to fine-tuning or what concept?

It is a mix-bag of things so I would say all of the things you mentioned. The idea of the dataset is that the user provides data but they are not concerned how it is used to make the final product. We have the ability to fine-tune on the data as well as generate synthetic conversations for testing, etc. There is also the element of search.

My use case requires very accurate search and my current bot uses text embeddings with the Ada 002 embedding model to make this happen. Do you feel confident that the semantic search configuration that the website uses can make a very accurate search bot (think getting legal statutes correct from a long legal text).
If it can achieve this I would be very interested in the product.

The support chatbot on our website is very accurate it is sometimes boring. I suggest to give it a try. With conversational AI it is always a bit of a hit and miss. The general rule of the thumb is that the more context you provide the better the result.

This looks really cool! A couple questions. Are you all using langchain for this at all? I’d like to create a customized research assistant. So I’d want to connect it to some uploaded documents and specific websites as datasets, but then can individual users also upload their own files or ask questions about specific URLs? Finally, I like the widget and slack/discord options. It would be awesome if you also had an option for a chatgpt interface clone as an option.

We don’t use langchain at all, which in my humble opinion is tremendous advantage as we can do things that langchain cannot do easily.
You can do all of these things today 🙂 we have themes support for the widget that can make it look exactly like ChatGPT and we have our own alternative to ChatGPT plugins we call skillsets.
