hi, who can i talk to about a billing error? i would like to report a billing error. i signed up for a paid account, and i put my credit card details there. i put a hard limit of 10 USD.
I was playing around with some code, and made a mistake, which caused a lot of API calls. For my January usage, it shows i had called 16 USD worth of API calls.
I just got invoice now for 16 USD. Why did it not follow my hard limit of 10 USD? that is the purpose of my hard limit right?
please help!

So just to put this in perspective. $16 USD is roughly 800,000 tokens or 600,000 words. Using the latest davinci model.
What kind of code were you messing with? Are you aware that codex is available?
Your hard limit was probably not setup correctly and ultimately you are responsible for your usage.
?
not setup correctly? these are the steps i took:
1.) signed up for a paid account (put in business name, tax details, etc)
2.) put 10 USD for the hard limit.
3.) i then proceeded to work on an app i was working on (Shopify app that bulk updates product descriptions , tags, titles, etc.)
can you please ellobrate on what you meant on "not setup correctly" ?
it seems to me that the hard limit feature failed.
It does work, it's only an issue for you as it's never been mentioned before. @rain rain
What exactly do you want done?
1.) i want to find out why the hard limit feature failed.
2.) i want to know how i can prevent this from happening again, how do i make sure the hard limit will work next time.
3.) Who do i talk to for a bill refund?
i put that hard limit even before i started playing around with my app
i even got an email for the soft limit notification, so i guess the soft limit is working
Set your hard and soft limit to $0 and try
whats your app called
So in January you set a hard limit to $10, and in January you used $10 in total (all in January) and it kept allowing you to send requests afterwards?
yup that is exactly what happened
Did you ever get an answer on this? I've seen this pop up a few times now.
Nope 😭
I'm new on this, planning to pay for API to test the API on an app. @rain rain so in the end the hard limit wouldn't work even you set it before messing with the API?
Yup. Hopefully they have fixed that issue now. I haven't tried again
you sure you didn't set the soft limit to 10 USD?
Afaik, the hard limit issue is fixed now.
Anyone that was affected by this issue in the past would've gotten credits to cover the amount that went over limit
100000% sure 🙂
