ive been getting the error occurred on all my devices yesterday. but all my other devices are all good now except my computer

Did it work before? Test the login in the other browser. If the problem still exists, then please test another device, another network.

Tested in Firefox & Chrome, no difference
Tried it on mobile and desktop, and i don't really have a lot more devices to test it on
Done, tried it on public WiFi, WiFi & LAN at home and mobile network, no difference whatsoever

sorry i should of told you, i worked it out by pressing the windows+r on my keyborad going into msconfig and went into services and startups and disabled everything and then enabled it all .. chatgtp is working now.. thank you for your help 😀

Please share what version of Windows you have. And perfect would be if you take a screenshot and mark on the screenshot all the services you have disabled and enabled.
If the same error occurs again, do us a favor. Do NOT enable and disable the services ALL at once, BUT ONE BY ONE And test after each activation if the error is fixed. Then there is chance to find out which service is causing the error .

im running windows 11. i could probably still work it out for you with a screen shot? i disabled all of it at once but then i added them one by one. but i only enabled the ones that i thought i would use. so if i give you the screen shot it would have to be one of the disabled ones

i cant remember which ones they were but it would have to be one of the ones that are disabled on the bottom. xbox wasnt enabled and i remember that. but a shot in the dark if i remember it could of been the vpn or the gaming one.

Huge, huge thanks @onyx crane 💐 ! Just by sharing your troubleshooting approach, you have helped other users who are affected by this error to simply apply your solution and possibly not make an error message at all. The channel here will then hopefully be relieved of these masses of recurring error messages and we as a community can devote ourselves to really difficult errors.

By the way there is an easy way to narrow down with high probability which service caused the error. If you have time soon, you can activate the VPN service (I suspect it was VPN) on a trial basis and test if the error is back. If you have tested this, please share with us the test result please 🙂 .

It would be perfect if you could post the text of the error message here as accurately as possible.

i just went through all the disabled names and enabled them nothing seem to happen after that. it was all working fine. i dont have image or remember the texted but im sure everyone has see the "Error has occurred" blah blah blah get help from openai.help.. what ever it says

Please test as soon as it fits if the error is back when the computer shuts down and then starts up again with services enabled again.

ok no worries. i did just restart my computer and the problem is back. i know what i have to do and ill keep you posted. its late here in australia so ill do it tomorrow after work

Were you able to figure out which specific services were causing the problem? I am trying to find something that my be stopping it from working, but i cant seem to make any progress.

I also read something online which showed problems after disabling everything on msconfig

As a workaround - it may be worth considering running ChatGPT on Linux? Search for "Windows Subsystem Linux install" to install Linux 🐧 under Windows. Or install Linux parallel to Windows 🙂 .

it worked once, but now that i have put my computer to sleep and turned it back on, it doesn't work

i went into msconfig and disabled all of the services

then i re-enabled all of them

I fixed the problem on my computer with the method that @onyx crane (thank you so much) found

i can send screen shots of what services i deleted

I saw the main problem was with Virtual Desktop (to pair a VR headset with your computer)

And multiple Razer gaming services

Also, when in msconfig, when disabling all of the services, CLICK HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES

i have read stories online of people who have had all of their files deleted because of this

Thanks for sharing your solution @keen pecan. The other users who are confronted with the error message cited here would thank you if you - as soon as the error happens again - disable the services SINGLE. And after each deactivation check if the error is fixed. So that it is clearly clarified which service has caused the error with YOU. Because with another user it could be another program.

I understood that @onyx crane managed to provoke the error by activating the previously deactivated services and then switching the computer off and on again. You can also use this time-saving method - when you are ready.

You can try to find out if you activate the services INDIVIDUALLY and after activation shut down the computer and then start it up again.

i have try using Firefox internet explore and chrome 2 i have use all three of my google accounts but no change , i have refresh my browser many times and i try opening over 10 new chat with my laptop it works with my phone but not my laptop have deleted my cache i have even factory reset my laptop think it was some with the code i completely lost.

@hushed blade i used chatgpt to make my text better but here what i did. My computer was locked out after resetting my MSConfig, but I was able to fix it by restoring an old Windows factory restore point. I'm not sure how it fixed the issue, but it did allow me to use ChatGPT.
