I have only ever found these filters to be an annoyance, as there is no real way to prevent anyone from using this tool exactly as the wish if they are clever enough, thanks to the horrible inefficiency of a keyword filter. It is highly arrogant to think people are here to follow the rules, as there are likely dozens of other servers (or DM) where they can freely talk about this.

For example, I work in IT, and have been hit by the filter more times than I can count just trying to get help to do my job, which makes it just about unuseable for those who don't know how to bypass it. I have also had to bypass it to talk about social unrest in my novel about some pretty sensitive subjects that some guys at a desk somewhere decided I can't talk about.

Can you talk about why these safety filters are here, and for what possible reason they could serve other than appearance? I feel like if they where actually serious, this feature would have been much smarter to design at the mouth of Chat and not the input of the user. (edited)

the filters are there to prevent the possible misuse or content generations that may be sexual, hateful, violent or promoting self-harm— basically content prohibited by openai content policy. as for the server guidelines, it's g-rated, if you're planning to be a part of the server, you have to follow the rules
