Bug Report:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log in to ChatGPT (only reproducible for certain accounts)
  2. Submit any prompt to ChatGPT

Expected result:

Relevant ChatGPT response

Actual result:

"We're currently processing too many requests. Please try again later" for every single response, regardless of time of day, etc.

Additional information

Browser: Chrome 109.0.5414.119 (plus every other browser I've tried)
OS: macOS Big Sur 11.6.5

Description:
As of 2-3 days ago, every time I submit a prompt, I get the following response:

"We're currently processing too many requests. Please try again later."

This is the response no matter what time of day, what browser, even after logging in/out and clearing cache and cookies.

This appears to be an account-level issue as I was able to create a secondary account and confirmed that requests worked fine for that account, but my primary account is still unable to submit a single request.

I've also seen this reported by other users (who were also only able to submit requests with a secondary account), so it appears to be an issue where certain accounts are completely unable to submit requests. Again, this is only within the last 48-72 hours-ish, so I'm assuming this has something to do with a new feature or changes that were rolled out within the last few days.

Same here. Since yesterday, I paid $20, which was supposed to give me priority, but I have not been able to use it even once, it thinks for a few seconds, and then keep getting "We're currently processing too many requests. Please try again later." The support is not getting back to me, and they have a no-refund policy.

My secondary, free account works fine.

It's an account issue because 1) a secondary, free account works fine on all browsers, and 2) My PLUS account doesn't work on any browser.

I am having the same issue for past few days. I subscribed to Plus yesterday hoping it would resolve the issue. But as of now I am still having the same issue. Tried chatting with OpenAI but it doesn’t let me chat with them. This is frustrating.

The support chat works, but as soon as I send my issue, it says that someone will get back to me, and it closes the ticket. No one got back to me. I went to dispute the $20 bank charge, but I have to wait for the status to change from "processing"

In the chat support they told me to come here, but no one is doing anything about it. I just canceled the subscription and disputed the charge with the bank. If they fix it, I will renew my subscription. I even tried on their now new "turbo" model. Didn't work either.

Just got off the phone with the bank. They accepted the dispute and refunded me the money

Update: As of this morning, it seems like my account is magically working again (I've been checking regularly). Nothing was done on my end to fix this.

Hi nyi. Same error here. Except I got "I got the "An error ocurred" message after upgrading to plus (notice the spelling mistake)." I've reported it to support (back tomorrow). I'm curious if this is a temporary thing, something completely unrelated to upgrading, or if it's due to upgrading (perhaps their models are getting confused). It's incredibly frustrating. I've tried the following to no avail:

  • refreshing
  • waiting and returning later
  • opening an incognito window to avoid cache issues
  • a different device

Other conversations don't return this error.

@true surge Just my 2 cents. I wound up redoing the training I'd done for my project and I have to say the turbo version seems to have picked up the concept easier. Even if I could retain and continue with the old conversation, I wouldn't be able to switch to the new turbo model so probably for the best even though it's painful. It might be worth thinking about if you need to continue the old conversation. Dunno.

What specifically are you referring to with "the gpt-3"? I think we're all on gpt 3.5, with the free version or paid version. The new turbo model is something available with plus.
