Both DALLE and ChatGPT have picked up a misinformation campaign about Facilitated Communication and Rapid Prompting Method, two methods for people (mostly autistic people with dyspraxia) and spout its illogical but compelling lies. This disinformation campaign is organized and appears to be funded and has placed disinformation in locations that are generally thought to be authoritative and by people who have academic credentials and positions in universities. The motivation of the people doing this appears to be professional protectionism.

People who use augmentative and alternative communication are particularly susceptible to the harms of this new technology because it can cause people to disbelieve their communication is authentic because they are disabled. It can also spread misinformation about their disability quite efficiently.
It can make professors and teachers deny accommodations needed to get an education for fear that disabled people using technology will cheat.
