Squidgies is an app I have been building to help me go from intermediate to advanced in different languages. It uses AI to teach you about any topic you're interested in. To use the app, you "feed" your Squidgies each day by doing exercises which can be discussion questions, vocab review, word games (e.g. taboo), or flashcards. Along the way Squidgies learns what you know and don't know, providing you with customized content to review using spaced repetition.

Key capabilities include:
- Generate a "deck" for any topic you want to learn about - a hobby, rooms in a house, going out, expressing your feelings, parts of the body, slang, etc. Squidgies will generate content for you dynamically as you study it.
- Discussion questions and word games get you immersed and "speaking" (typing today, but you can use phone dictation)
- If you don't know how to say something in the language (e.g spanish), type your native language (e.g. english) or a mix, and the app will give you the correct way to say it.
- App generates flash cards from any corrections you get or from any words you click on and don't know
- Spaced repetition ensures you never forget
- Fill in the blank flashcards have "hints" in the target language exposing you to more vocabulary
- When you answer with a synonym or have a wrong answer, Squidgies explains to you the difference
It is a built on Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, GPT-3, sentence-transformers, Spacy, and React. If you're interested in getting involved, hit me up please!
