LingoChat - AI characters for learning a new language!

Hi everyone, I am happy to announce the early beta release of my AI tutor app for learning languages. You choose a character that has your language and through conversation, learn any language you want with engaging and personalized sessions.

This is still a work in progress, and I have many improvements planned, such as building memory into AI agents, adding more languages and characters, and enhancing the user interface and experience. I would appreciate your feedback and suggestions, so please try it out and let me know what you think.

Very creative! - and I almost forgot that GPT-3 is a multilingual model lol

It started talking to me with the other language immediately, which was sort of hard to interpret at first. Would be nice to have some kind of transition like risingpheonix said

Thank you for the feedback. Assuming you could ask the source language first, How do you think a conversation should start? Perhaps a placement “quiz”?

I had the same feedback, it's a little intimidating to see a huge wall of text in a language you don't know.

I think once the ChatGPT API comes out this will be much easier. ChatGPT is really good at guiding you along.

I did not try the website but maybe consider making a list of languages to choose from initially. The list can start with the native language of the user's country (I suppose the website knows the user's country ?) and then a list of languages written in the native language and sorted by language popularity.

@wispy wing if you've seen the app hellotalk, it has a very cool ui for doing things like this.

maybe some days later you could support customizing the user's own avatar, just like synthesia.io do(https://www.synthesia.io/), to simulate the dialogue between tutors and learners. I would like to create my own avatar to teach my student. BTW, the bot does not sound like a human. I know some AI speech services, such as Murf (murf.ai) and Microsoft TTS, do it very well. maybe you can try it.
