#Allowed naming for projects using the API(s)

I‘m wondering what are the boundaries for names of my project. I wrote a plugin for Flowlauncher (https://www.flowlauncher.com/) to easily call the API from anywhere. Am I allowed to name the plugin OpenAI Plugin (or GPT Plugin?) and use the OpenAI logo to show when the plugin is called? I also will state that the plugin is nothing official and not affiliated with OpenAI. Just curious as other libraries use OpenAI in their name, i.e. https://beta.openai.com/docs/libraries/community-libraries. Thanks!

since you are actually using it for GPT you should have no problem with the name.
as an example, there was the Dalle mini website who changed its name to Crayon as it was not using OpenAI services and actually caused confusion about the nature of the technology it relied on

I'm no legal representative by any means, btw

but im pretty sure you'll have no problem with having "GPT" on the name if your project is actually using OpenAI's GPT-3

#

im not sure about the logo, but I wouldn't say it is problematic as long as you only use it as an indicator that it contains OpenAI services and not as a way to deceive users into thinking that it is a project by OpenAI

Awesome, thank you! Will write them a mail and clarify. Thanks for the heads up!

It seems generally using the name "OpenAI", "Dall-E", and / or "GPT" in project names that use those services is alright, just their logo is off limits.
